What | QTIS Jewel Day 2025 |
Where | Gold Coast Turf Club – Racecourse Dr, Bundall QLD 4217 |
When | Saturday, March 15, 2025 |
First Race | 2:49pm AEST |
Following the postponement of the meeting last Saturday, the Gold Coast Turf Club will host its annual QTIS Jewel Raceday this Saturday evening. Although a lot of rain has fallen in Queensland over the last week, the track is expected to improve from the Heavy 8 rating into the Soft range by raceday. The rail will be in its true position for the entire circuit, with the first race scheduled to jump at 2:49pm AEST.
QTIS Jewel 2YO Tip: Grafterburners
Grafterburners was an eye-catcher in the Inglis Millennium at Randwick last start when the Kelly Schweida-trained colt weaved through the pack to finish in fourth place. The son of Graff possesses a booming turn of foot, and after racing over 1000m and 1100m in most of his starts, a rise to 1200m will suit. With a lot of speed expected, Cejay Graham can settle Grafterburners worse than midfield before letting him rip in the final 300m to have the last crack at the leaders.

QTIS Jewel 3YO Tip: Mr Bubbaluski
In what looks to be an even QTIS Jewel 3YO contest, the +2200 on offer with Dabble is a great price for the Jack Bruce-trained Mr Bubbaluski. This son of Encryption is yet to win on turf, but he has shown a stack of ability in his three placings on all track conditions. Damien Thornton can settle closer to the speed from barrier three, and if he can find a back to follow around the home turn, Mr Bubbaluski’s turn of foot will give him every chance to record his second win.

Best Bet at Gold Coast: Piastri
Ciaron Maher will send Piastri to Queensland for the first time in his career off a 27-week spell, where he will compete in the last race of the evening. The son of Choisir owns an impressive record through nine starts, recording four wins and a placing, with all of his wins coming on Soft ground. With the aid of Cody Collis’ 2kg claim, a Soft track, and barrier three, Piastri has found the perfect race to resume with a victory.
Best Bet
Race 10 – #2 Piastri (3)
4yo Gelding | T: Ciaron Maher | J: Cody Collis (a2) (61kg)
Next Best at Gold Coast: Ready For Anything
Ready For Anything appears to be crying out for 1400m and a softer track after finishing off strongly over 1200m in his last three starts. The Matthew Dunn-prepared galloper settled at the back of the field at Doomben last start before stroming home down the outside of the field to finish in sixth place. The son of Better Than Ready will appreciate the drop in weight to 55kg, and if Andrew Mallyon can settle closer to the speed, Ready For Anything will make his presence felt late.
Next Best

6yo Gelding | T: Matthew Dunn | J: Andrew Mallyon (55kg)
