What Sha Tin Races
Where Sha Tin Racecourse – Tai Po Rd, Sha Tin District, Hong Kong
When Saturday, March 15, 2025
First Race 1pm HKT (4pm AEDT)

Sha Tin Racecourse is the destination for Hong Kong racing on Saturday afternoon, with a stacked 10-part program set for decision. The rail is in the C+3 position for the meeting, and although some rainfall is forecast to hit the course proper in the lead-up, punters can expect the Good 4 rating at the time of acceptances to remain unchanged for race day. The opening event is scheduled to get underway at 1pm HKT.

Best Bet at Sha Tin: Sky Jewellery

Sky Jewellery continues to impress in his debut Hong Kong season, claiming two wins from three starts, including a demolition of his Class 4 rivals at this course and distance on February 23. The Autumn Son gelding did it comfortably on that occasion, rounding them up from the rear of the field to stamp himself as a potential star on the rise. He drops 5kg stepping into Class 3 company, and with gate seven allowing Brenton Avdulla to smoke the pipe mid-field with cover, watch for Sky Jewellery to be putting in the big strides late to justify favouritism with horse racing bookmakers.

Best Bet

Race 10 – Sky Jewellery Silks#7 Sky Jewellery (7)

3yo Gelding | T: John Size | J: Brenton Avdulla (56kg)

Next Best at Sha Tin: Super Strong Kid

Super Strong Kid ran into a smart one in the form of Justifying on debut and finished off best of the beaten brigade to suggest punters can follow him with confidence. He bombed the start before picking himself off the canvas, running slick time in the process. Matthew Chadwick will need to get the son of Brutal to jump with them this time around, but provided he’s within striking distance, Super Strong Kid must be considered a major player in this.

Next Best

Race 3 – Super Strong Kid Silks#9 Super Strong Kid (4)

3yo Gelding | T: Manfred Man | J: Matthew Chadwick (58kg)

Best Value at Sha Tin: Sunlight Power

Sunlight Power was outmatched carrying a big weight (59kg) at this course and distance last time out but gets a terrific opportunity to turn the tables on some key rivals. He closed off nicely from the back-half of the field as Johannes Brahms got the upper hand in the shadows of the post, however, he never shirked the task to get within a length on the wire. Gate one allows Hugh Bowman to take closer order in the small field of nine, and provided the breaks fall his way, Sunlight Power will prove hard to hold out.

Best Value

Race 7 – Sunlight Power Silks#2 Sunlight Power (1)

5yo Gelding | T: Ricky Yiu | J: Hugh Bowman (57kg)
