Belclare runs away with Group 2 Hot Danish Stakes

The Bjorn Baker-trained Belclare has stormed away for back-to-back wins, claiming the Group 2 Hot Danish Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill on Saturday afternoon.
The daughter of Per Incanto produced a replica performance of her dominant victory in the Group 2 Invitation (1400m) at Randwick a fortnight ago, with Tyler Schiller heading straight to the front from the outset.
Schiller was able to dictate terms throughout, with Navyonthehighway ($23.00) the only other galloper showing any early initiative from barrier eight.
Magic Time ($2.60) had no luck once again from the wide draw, with Zac Lloyd unable to gain any cover throughout the journey from barrier nine, while Olentia ($5.50) was given every chance to stalk the speed slightly worse than mid-field throughout.
When the whips were cracking, there was only one horse you wanted to be on, however, with Belclare giving a strong kick in the final furlong, proving her last-start victory was no fluke despite the big price with Neds.

Stable representative Luke Hilton was on course to assess the win before suggesting the Group 1 Railway (1600m) could be a possible target next time out.
“She made her own luck,” Hilton said.
“I was surprised when Tyler got there so easily and there wasn’t a lot of pressure around. I was pretty confident after they’d gone a couple of hundred metres that she was going to be tough to beat.
“She likes to dictate. Just probably the 1400m, 1400m, 1400m we were a little bit like, maybe she was looking for a touch further, but Tyler rated her perfectly and she’s a Group One-winning mare. And she showed that today.
“We’ve spoken about maybe heading over west to a race like the Railway in a couple of weeks time. We’ll sit down with the owner, he’s very involved and he loves this mare, so if he gives us the sign off we might look at giving her a crack at another Group One.”
Tyler Schiller was elated with the victory and credited her tough front-running racing style for her success.
“What a mare,” he said.
“She’s quickly becoming very consistent. I think the blinkers coming off have just done her the world of good. She jumped OK today but wasn’t overly fast out.
“I just let her roll and it just stops her getting over keen, which is a big thing when you’re trying to finish a race off. I think she’s just a tough mare. She loves leading. And I feel like if she could run for Prime Minister she would, because she’s a good dictator.
“It’s a great thing when these mares are in form. And I suppose Bjorn (Baker) and the owners just keep cashing in. It’s great to have one of the owners here today because they weren’t here at Randwick.”
Belclare is now on the second line of betting at $11.00 with for the 2024 Railway Stakes on November 23.
