A Special Win for Spud
That one is for you, Spud! ❤️
Captain Spud, named after late AFL great Danny Frawley, holds off Kermy for a tough win. ??@gelagotisracing @hvasstan

If you are an AFL fan or sports fan in general in this country the win of Captain Spud yesterday in Race 3 at Sale would have warmed the heart a fair bit. Named after the late great Danny ‘Spud’ Frawley the gelding under the watchful eye of Peter Gelagotis finally broke through for a maiden victory at start five. The gelding had shown plenty of promise to start his career but had failed to hit the line first coming up with three minor placings from four starts. St.Kilda fans had clearly launched in at the $1.90 odds because there was plenty of happy Saints fans in our Dm’s and fair play to them! Spud was actually a part owner of this Tornado gelding so anything he does from this point forward will continue to warm the hearts of those close to Spud Frawley.
Could today be the farewell to Ole Kirk?
Worth every cent! A $675k purchase at the 2019 @inglis_sales Melbourne Premier via @GilgaiFarm, Ole Kirk notches up his 2nd Group 1 victory in a row by capturing the $2m @Neds Caulfield Guineas. Having won the Caulfield Guineas in the spring, and now about to race in the Australian Guineas today, Wayne Hawkes has put forward the thought that Ole Kirk may be retired if he wins the Group 1 today. Currently a $9 chance in today’s Australian Guineas, Ole Kirk has a real chance of taking out both of Victoria’s prestigious three-year-old events over the mile. In being a relation to the great Black Caviar, the colt will be a shit tonne more off the track than what he is able to win on the track. Hawkes suggested his colt who finished eighth in the Futurity Stakes last week could be worth up to $35 million for the owners in the breeding barn with a win in the Australian Guineas, and if he does go on to win today how can you blame the owners for pulling the pin on his racing career.

Punt Drunk’s best bet of the day
The Ryan Balfour trained gelding could not have been any more impressive to begin his career thus far and at start four should be adding a third win to his name from just four starts. His lone defeat was behind a smart one in Zoushine and with apprentice Jacob Opperman’s 3kg claim gets well in at the weights and looks hard to hold out.
Race 4 – Outlaw’s Revenge (#1)
