Sunshine Coast betting preview – February 27, 2021
The Sunshine Coast plays host to nine metropolitan races this weekend for Tattersall’s Member’s Cup Day. The rail is in the true position for the entire circumference of the course, and the track is rated a Heavy 8 after rain pummelled the South East corner during the week. Race 1 is set to jump at 12:23pm local time.
Best Bet: Sweet Dolly
The unbeaten Sweet Dolly resumes on Saturday in the Jewel Fillies Prelude and looks hard to beat once again. The two-year-old filly won by six lengths on debut at Townsville and then proved too good for Fake Love in the Listed Calaway Gal Stakes at Eagle Farm in December. Drawn out in barrier 10, she will come across with Glorious Ruby, the market second elect who is drawn inside her, and should find some cover in the second pair. Lack of experience on wet surfaces is a slight query, but she looks very smart.

Next Best: Run For Glory
Tony Gollan and Jim Byrne combine in the 1200m Open Handicap with Run For Glory, who returns for the first time since September 19. He is looking for six straight wins, which kicked off with a win at this track and distance back in July. He has never lost a race at the Sunshine Coast, he’s only been out of the placings once at the six furlongs, and he has won twice on Soft tracks, so he should get conditions to suit. He has run well first up in the past and can be in the better part of the track from barrier 11. He should be hard to beat again.

Best Value: Dio D’oro
Dio D’oro got the job done for us last time at Doomben in his second Queensland start. After getting the run of the race under Ryan Maloney, he was given the perfect opening to shoot through and edge out Rebel Salute, who has since won. The five-year-old gelded son of Medaglia D’oro is a genuine mudlark, with all five of his wins coming on rain-affected surfaces, so he will appreciate the Heavy going. He is drawn wide but will go forward and put himself into the race with James Orman aboard, and he should be hard to beat at the each-way quote.
