What Swan Hill Races
Where Swan Hill Jockey Club – 17 Gray St, Swan Hill, VIC, 3585
When Monday, September 26, 2022
First Race 1:30pm AEST

The week of racing in Victoria gets underway with a competitive eight-race program on Monday afternoon and Horsebetting.com.au present our best bets, top odds and free quaddie picks for the day. Despite plenty of rain in the Swan Hill area, we are racing on an improving Soft 7, whilst the rail comes out 4m from the 800m-400m and then in the true the remainder.

Action gets underway at 1:30pm AEST.

Best Bet at Swan Hill – Armstrong Bay

Having finished second in all three starts this campaign, the Symon Wilde-trained Armstrong Bay get his chance to bring up a deserved maiden victory on Monday. The four-year-old gelding was worried out of a win at Warrnambool on August 23, despite looking to have the race shot to pieces inside the final furlong. Wilde pops the blinkers on for the first time which should only benefit his chances on Monday. From barrier four, look for Dean Yendall to have this bloke settled in a prominent position throughout, preferably in the one-one. If they are afforded that luxury, Armstrong Bay looks to have race fitness and the ability to be too good for this lot.

Best Bet

Race 3 – Silk #1 Armstrong Bay (10)

4yo Gelding | T: Symon Wilde | J: Dean Yendall (59.5kg)

$3.80 with Ladbrokes

Next Best at Swan Hill – Thisismyturf

Despite being well beaten at Sandown on September 7, the Matt Cumani-trained Thisismyturf looks well-placed to break his maiden as he steps back from racing in the city. The three-year-old colt ran on with great intent at Ballarat two starts back when storming home and missing by a half-length in what has turned out to be a strong form race, with four subsequent winners. He regains the services of Harry Coffey and as every punter knows, Coffey at Swan Hill is just different gravy. Despite drawing barrier three, we expect Coffey to have this bloke settled at the rear of the field, where he can build through the gears approaching the home turn. Thisismyturf is armed with a strong turn of foot and with a genuinely run 1600m event expected, the race looks perfectly set up for Thisismyturf to fly home down the centre of the track. The $2.25 on offer with some online betting sites looks a perfect price to load up at.

Next Best

Race 4 – Silk #13 Thisismyturf (3)

3yo Colt | T: Matt Cumani | J: Harry Coffey (57kg)

$2.10 with Ladbrokes

Best Value at Swan Hill – Avid General

The Jody Thompson-trained Avid General weakened late in a strong BM64 on the Ballarat Synthetic last time out, his win two starts back at Warracknabeal shows he is in this BM58 up to his neck. He is a genuine front runner and from the low draw of barrier four looks set to find the rail and give them something to chase over the flying 975m. He is proven on rain affected ground and if Neil Farley can have this seven-year-old gelding bounding along out in front, we expect Avid General will prove too hard to run down at a nice price with online bookmakers.

Best Value

Race 7 – Silk #3 Avid General (4)

7yo Gelding | T: Jody Thompson | J: Neil Farley (60.5kg)

$13 with Bet365
