Snapdancer leads throughout in Memsie Stakes
The Ciaron Maher & David Eustace-trained Snapdancer was able to lead from barrier to box in the Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield, defying a late charge from I’m Thunderstruck and Cascadian.
The six-year-old mare gave jockey Ethan Brown a second Group 1 victory after the pair took out the Robert Sangster Stakes (1200m) at Morphettville earlier in the year.
After jumping brilliantly from barrier five, the mare by Choisir summed the race up from the get-go, controlling the race from in front, before kicking clear in the straight and posting a winning break.
Ciaron Maher said that there are plenty of options available for his gutsy mare, hinting that a shot at The Everest (1200m) could be on the agenda.

“As you can see there’s a great group of owners there, and it’s just a great result- she’s got a lot of options now,” he said.
“Maybe an Everest is an option. She seems to be really dominant at that 1400m, she’s got a high cruising speed.
“If she did nothing else this prep, this year’s been phenomenal for her, but she’s just going from strength-to-strength and I think she’ll get better again.”
Winning jockey Ethan Brown said the mare is taking him on the “ride of his life”.
“She is taking me on the ride of my life – she’s so easy to ride,” he said.
“I came out so relaxed for this race. Just her racing style makes everything so much easier.
“Tactically I just wanted to use her residual fitness – knowing that most of those horses were first-up resuming stayers – but she still had to do it and she did exactly that.
“I thought she was really impressive and she just keeps racing the bar.
“She had to do it today. Her work leading in has been amazing. She was placed to perfection today. Onwards and upwards for her.”
Snapdancer is a $26 chance with online bookmakers for The Everest, which will be run on October 15 at Royal Randwick.
