The Sheraco Stakes is a Group 2 race held at Rosehill racecourse and is for fillies and mares aged three-years-old and older under set weights and penalty conditions, worth $300,000.
After being run as a Quality Handicap for the first two years, the Sheraco Stakes was classified as a Listed Race from 2000-2012, before being upgraded to a Group 3 from 2012-2018. From 2018 onwards, the Sheraco Stakes has been classified as a Group 2.
Although the Sheraco Stakes is run for fillies and mares, Mimi Lebrock in 2008 became the first filly to win the race, with every other edition of the race won by a mare.
Several speedy mares have used the Sheraco Stakes to push onto big sprinting features later in the spring, with the likes of Haut Brion Her (2020) and Shades Of Rose (2022) pushing onto The Everest after winning the race.
Notable winners of the race include Shades Of Rose (2022), Entriviere (2021), Haut Brion Her (2020), Invincibella (2019), Catkins (2013, 2014), More Joyous (2010, 2012), Mimi Lebrock (2008) and Pompeii (2002).

Recent Sheraco Stakes results
- The Annabel Neasham & Rob Archibald-trained Sunshine In Paris ($3.90) made it back-to-back wins in the Group 2 Sheraco Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill, all but assuring herself a slot in the $20 million Everest (1200m). The daughter of Invader returned first-up after a 147-day spell on Saturday, and although she was giving race-day fitness away to most of her rivals, including the short-priced favourite Joliestar ($1.80), it simply didn’t matter. The classy five-year-old was dragged back towards mid-field under Tommy Berry, bidding his time in behind a hot tempo courtesy of New Zealand import Belclare ($16.00). Makarena ($5.00) was well-supported prior to the jump and was given every chance slotting onto the back of the leader, while Mumbai Muse ($18.00) was the first to make strong inroads turning for home. Mumbai Muse hit the front with 200m left to travel, but Sunshine In Paris let down with a blistering turn of foot to claim victory, while Joliestar was left a shade flat-footed second-up.
- Ryan Maloney & Annabel Neasham have combined with Sunshine In Paris ($8.00) to take out the Group 2 Sheraco Stakes at Rosehill. The mare by Invader produced a stunning turn-of-foot from well-back in the field, causing a minor upset with the well-supported favourite pair, Zapateo ($2.40) and I Am Me ($3.90) disappointing followers. Ryan Maloney had no issue taking the Group 1 winner back to the rear in a hotly contested race, as Cinderella Days ($21.00) and Queen Of The Ball ($8.50) made sure it was a genuine gallop up on-speed. This left I Am Me out on a three-wide line at a crucial stage which may have played a part in her disappointing performance. Once the sprint went on though, there was only one horse making an impression to win, and that was Sunshine in Paris, while Espiona ($16.00) was a flashing light in the quinella spot.
- Bjorn Baker and Rachel King combined with the heavily supported Shades Of Rose ($2.45) to claim the Sheraco Stakes. After jumping well from the widest barrier, King took the race favourite to the lead and led from start to finish. Even though the daughter of Rubick started to tire late in the final 50m, she was able to hang on from the fast-finishing Electric Girl ($31) and Palaisipan ($19) who filled the placings.
- The lone New Zealand raider in the race, Entriviere ($2.60), who was heavily backed and the clear market elect proved too classy for her rivals in the Sheraco Stakes. McDonald allowed the five-year-old mare to jump and settle midfield, before exposing her as the field rounded the home turn. Once he released the brakes and asked her for an effort, the daughter of Tavistock took the lead and never looked back. Fituese ($6) and Marboosha ($10) couldn’t go with the favourite and they filled the placings – beaten 1.3 and 2.1 lengths, respectively.
- James McDonald gave Haut Brion Her a peach of a ride to land the spoils in the Sheraco Stakes at Rosehill. The daughter of Zoustar had to jump from barrier 13, but she jumped well and did some work to cross and sit outside the leader, before taking the lead all by herself at the 300m mark. The Chris Waller-trained mare had built a winning margin on her rivals by the 100m mark, so when Jen Rules ($31) and Seasons ($18) burst through the pack, there wasn’t a worry if you were on the leader.
- Tommy Berry made sure Mizzy ($5) led the field from the jump in the Sheraco Stakes, and after getting headed and appearing to be beaten at the top of the home straight, the Anthony Cummings-trained mare kicked back to win the Group 2 contest. There were a number of rivals challenging the eventual winner, with Fasika ($3.40) and Champagne Cuddles ($4) making their presence felt, as they unleashed down the outside with massive runs to finish in the placings.
