Quaddie tips for Thursday, July 20 races at Sale

quaddie of the week
WE return to the country setting of Sale in Victoria for this week’s quaddie and we are seeking redemption.

We were undone by a dual acceptor that decided to run at Grafton and win at double figure odds, but just like we do when we are successful, we move on quickly from the bitter disappointment.

We have had great run of tipping in recent times and we are hoping to keep that momentum rolling into Thursday.

Race five on the card is the Ladbrokes For Challenge benchmark 64 over the 1400m distance, which kicks off the quaddie at 3pm.

Race 5 – Ladbrokes For Challenge BM64 (1400m)

Blazing Socks comes into the first leg of our quaddie after a ten month layoff and has the capability to take this one out fresh. The Maher gelding has missed the placings just once in its career and has only finished beyond a length of the eventual winner in a race a solitary time.

Frankincense was promising last time out carrying the big weight, which it does not have to endure on Thursday. The four-year-old has previously won twice and placed a further two times at the distance, which proves it knows what it takes to find the line at the trip.

Elegant Queen has been racing almost exclusively at Sale recently. The mare’s run on Thursday will be the fourth-straight race it has confronted at Sale, where it has won, placed and finished fifth across three runs. There were plenty of excuses in that last-straight fifth placing and we are backing the four-year-old to bounce back in a winnable race.

Race 6 – Sale Water Specialists BM70 (1200m)

Sports Writer is second up on Thursday where it has won twice from two attempts previously. The first up performance was encouraging after it ran on from midfield to finish within a head of the eventual winner. The second up record suggests improvement will come and any upswing on that run will see the mare hammer this field.

New Zealand raider Swiss Moments has drawn the cheap seats for Thursday, but any horse that the Kiwi trainers deem worthy of a trip across the Tasman we have to respect. The mare has a solid record around the sprint distance, and any luck from the 14th gate will see it feature in the finish.

Youl Thrashem lived up to its name first up at Pakenham at a huge price, winning by almost a length and a half just under a month ago. The horse comes in after a three-week let up and will be cherry ripe to repeat the dose on a track where it has won twice and placed once across three runs.

Strykinglee is racing third up on Thursday where it has previously never won, but the recent form suggests it can change that at Sale. The horse has missed a placing just once in its career which was well over 12 months ago. The mare rates as one of the best chances in the race.

Race 7 – Gippsland Funeral Services Class One (1500m)

Geotag steps up from maiden class to this race on Thursday but such was the style of the win we need to include the gelding in our calculations. The three-year-old is confronting just its second ever race but the win at Bendigo just shy of two-weeks-ago suggests it could be a progressive type.

Buckeye Nation makes the trip to Sale after winning in a photo finish at Corowa Racecourse back at the beginning of the month. The win was extremely impressive given the way the track was playing on that day and there is no reason to think it cannot go on from that Corowa Plate win.

Try Pink is a mare that is racing well without saluting. The four-year-old has not missed the first four since September of last year, but has not won in over nine months. The daughter of New Approach gets a chance to atone on Thursday however in a field that looks wide open, and despite making its debut at the distance it has previously won at 1000m and 1600m.

Eye Em Are jumps from the inside draw and carries a significant amount of weight less than some of the key elects here. After getting away poorly in its last two starts the horse should be able to dictate its own terms from barrier one, especially given it possesses decent early speed. We are expecting a big run.

Race 8 – Labrokes.com.au BM64 (1200m)

Misty Girl has opened as the +360 favourite for the final race of the day at Crownbet.com.au and we think the lightly raced filly has legitimate claims here. The three-year-old won in unbelievable fashion on debut at Wodonga before a disappointing second up run at Sandown. There were plenty of excuses in that run however, and we are anticipating a strong performance Thursday.

Robbie Griffith’s runner Fast Stryke was racing in brilliant touch prior to a horror showing at Flemington on the 8th where it finished second last in a field of 12. Prior to that however the gelding had never missed a placing and won well at benchmark 58 level. From a decent barrier the three-year-old should be prominent.

Lightly raced Barefoot Tycoon returns after a two month layoff and at its peak could very easily take this race out. The horse is unlucky not to boast a better record, and has never finished beyond 2.3 lengths of a winner. The booking of Brad Rawiller caught our eye, and barrier three boosts our confidence. Back it in for a big run.

Heza Magic Man is third up and ready to win based on its previous preparations. The four-year-old won on is return to racing at Pakenham on June 13, and subsequently placed at Geelong three-weeks later. The gelding has previously placed third up so it should be right in the mix.
