It is Clare Lindop Stakes Day this weekend at Morphettville, where a nine-race card is scheduled. Most of the meeting will take place on the Parks circuit, with races six and seven to be run on the main course. As we build closer to the Adelaide Racing Carnival, we strike perfect racing conditions on the weekend. The track is rated a Good 4 and the rail returns to the true position, and if the course plays as it did last weekend, then it will pay to be up on speed over the sprint events. Racing is scheduled to get underway at 12:12pm ACDT.
Clare Lindop Stakes Top Tip – The Map
The Listed Clare Lindop Stakes for three-year-old fillies is the feature event at Morphettville on Saturday, with the 1600m event set to be run on the course proper at Morphettville. We’ve opted to side with the Dan Clarken & Oopy MacGillivray-trained The Map who, despite coming out of BM60 grade, looks a smart one to follow moving forward. The Alpine Eagle filly brings a bit of the unknown to a race like this, with race favourite Mac ‘N’ Cheese already showing us during her initial campaign what she is made of. The Map will most likely settle at the rear of the field alongside the favourite, but with a 1.5kg weight advantage, we expect The Map to produce a faster finishing sprint. The $13 on offer from Ladbrokes is hard to ignore.
Morphettville Parks Best Bet – Struck By
We were with the Travis Doudle-trained Struck By when he romped in over 1300m last start and also when getting the job done over 1200m two starts back. He returns to the 1200m on Saturday and strikes a similar race to what he has been competing in at recent times. Campbell Rawiller hops back on board having partnered him to victory two starts back and following his 2kg claim, has Struck By going around with 59kg on his back. He’s drawn in barrier five, so finding the rail should not prove too much of an issue, with next to no early speed drawn underneath him. We expect to see him dictate terms throughout once again and considering it was advantageous to be on the rail last weekend, we’re hoping it something of a similar tale seven days later.
Next Best Bet at Morphettville Parks – Harleymoven
Dan Clarken & Oopy MacGillivray will be hoping their three-year-old Harleymoven can build on his second-place finish behind Ancient Girl in the Morphettville Guineas last time out. The Foxwedge gelding gave the field a head start when beginning awkwardly, but finished off arguably better than any other runner to grab second in a run that suggested he was worth following wherever he went to next. From barrier three on Saturday and with better barrier manners, he is drawn to settle closer to the speed this time round and if he produces a similar turn of foot, Harleymoven may just blow his rivals out of the ground. We’re more than happy to take the $2.90 on offer from Neds for Harleymoven.
Best Value Bet at Morphettville Parks – Two Odd Sox
Having won two of hid last four starts, we’re happy to give the Shayne Cahill-trained Two Odd Sox a chance at a double-figure quote. Despite being held up horribly for a run at a crucial point last time out at Clare, the eight-year-old gelding quickened nicely along the rail when a gap appeared and managed to get the bob in on the line. He returns to the Parks track, a course he has missed the top three on just four occasions from 14 starts. From barrier nine, we expect to see Dom Tourneur to have him settled midfield with cover before turning on the jets and putting them away. We are more than happy to take the $12 on offer from Unibet.
