What a big week it’s been in the racing world, and aren’t we excited to get on the beers tonight with Group racing returning to The Valley with the Group 2 Australia Stakes! There’s plenty of local meetings to get through today, so strap yourselves in we have a winner to find at all nine of those meetings!

Now before we get shot down by Karen from Brighton, we’re saying that purely with tongue in cheek! But, when our best bet of the day is called ‘Dunvegan’ and he gets rolled as $1.18 on a Thursday night we say some harsh things! It’s a hard watch, but if you are brave/stupid feel free to watch the most disgusting beat we’ve seen this week; yes even worse than Mystic Journey getting rolled!

From a vegan to Butter Chicken on a Thursday night at Pakenham? Yes please. The well named Grahame Begg galloper showed who the superior cult is, the meat eaters! In all seriousness, it was some win to break his maiden at start two having to work his way through the field from the rear and showed he has a nice Saturday grade race in him. He’s one we have added to the Punt Drunk Blackbook, but let’s be honest he was already in there for the high class name.
Big names to miss the Autumn Carnival
On a more serious note, the Autumn carnival(s) have been dealt some heavy blows over the past 36 hours with three up and coming stars all having their autumn plans scratched. The Peter Moody trained Glenfiddich, the Sam and Anthony Freedman trained Ain’tnodeeldun and the Richard and Michael Freedman trained Love Tap. All three gallopers showed throughout the spring carnival that they are three of Australia’s best up and coming stars and the carnivals coming up in Melbourne and Sydney have been dealt a few significant blows. However, here’s hoping all three can get back to race fitness before this year’s Spring Carnival, because if there’s one thing we love at Punt Drunk more than a beer is some bloody good horses to back!
