What | Flemington Finals Race Day 2025 |
Where | Flemington Racecourse – 448 Epsom Rd, Flemington VIC 3031 |
When | Saturday, July 5, 2025 |
First Race | 11:55am AEST |
It’s Flemington Finals Race Day this weekend, with nine races scheduled for Saturday, July 5. The rail sticks in the true position for one of the marquee race days of the Victorian winter, but with wet weather earlier in the week, the Soft 6 track rating is expected to remain for the meeting. The first event is set to commence at 11:55am AEST.
Winter Championship Series Final Tip: Yellow Sam
Yellow Sam is going places and looks a good play in the Listed Winter Championship Series Final (1600m). Lindsey Smith’s five-year-old mare boasts two wins and two seconds from five starts on wet tracks, and if she finishes off like she did last time out over 1440m at Caulfield, the step up to the mile should be no issue. Fred Kersley will look for a back to follow in the home straight, and with a slick turn of foot, Yellow Sam should take a power of holding out in Saturday’s feature.

Race 8 – #9 Yellow Sam (8)
5yo Mare | T: Lindsey Smith | J: Fred Kersley (54.5kg)
A.R. Creswick Stakes Tip: She’s An Artist
She’s An Artist is undefeated through two starts to begin her career, and it is hard to mount a case for anything else in the Listed A.R. Creswick Stakes (1200m). The three-year-old filly disposed of a similar field over 1100m on her first look down the Flemington straight, exploding at the clock tower and putting the race to bed within a couple of strides. As long as she handles the wet ground, She’s An Artist should prove too slick once again.

Race 6 – #5 She’s An Artist (10)
3yo Filly | T: Ciaron Maher | J: Jamie Melham (56kg)
Santa Ana Lane Sprint Series Final Tip: Marble Nine
The penny has seemingly dropped for Marble Nine, and now he goes searching for black-type success in the Santa Ana Lane Sprint Series Final (1200m). The four-year-old gelding has won impressively in his last two starts and managed to put 1.5 lengths on the classy Cleo Cat over 1100m at this track. He won at this track and trip two starts ago and clearly has a strong association with the Flemington straight, while the small field of seven is sure to suit.

Race 3 – #2 Marble Nine (7)
4yo Gelding | T: Leon & Troy Corstens & Will Larkin | J: Liam Riordan (57.5kg)
Best Bet at Flemington: Knobelas
Knobelas looked different gravy when winning in maiden company at Pakenham two runs back. She was just as impressive in BM70 grade at Sandown last time out, putting 3.3 lengths on subsequent winner All Business with a bit left in the tank. From barrier three, Jamie Kah should not have to work too hard to find the lead, and if she is left alone, Knobelas’ rivals will not know which way she went when she goes for home.
Best Bet
Race 4 – #9 Knobelas (3)
3yo Filly | T: Mick Price & Michael Kent (Jnr) | J: Jamie Melham (54kg)
