Echuca quaddie Tips, form & bookies bonuses for Thursday, 27 July

quaddie of the week
COUNTRY Victoria is the setting for our Thursday quaddie this week, and we take plenty of confidence into the meet following a successful stint last week.

We made a pledge to our readers that we would deliver a dividend and we duly did after nailing the quaddie at Sale, delivering on our promise to atone after the disappointment that was Grafton Cup Day.

As we say every week however, we look forward not back and this Thursday’s ten race card from Echuca looks just as promising.

Race seven on the card is the Class One Sportsbet Handicap over the 1600m distance, which kicks off the quaddie at 3pm.

Race 7 – Sportsbet Handicap C1 (1600m)

Houston Street is third up on Thursday and is looking to maintain a strong racing career to date. The Ciaron Maher-trained three-year-old has never finished outside the placings and looked sensational first up at Wangaratta at the end of June.

Strategic Lad is a last-start winner that is giving the mile its first ever attempt on Thursday. After failing to break through at the sprint distance the horse placed once and subsequently won across two attempts at the 1400m journey. The win suggested that it will relish the additional trip given it only just won.

Another last-start winner in the form of Ennis gets its chance to back up that victory on Thursday. The mare took out an incredibly strong maiden at Geelong as a double figure runner and will benefit greatly from finally breaking through. Looks to have improvement in the tank.

Race 8 – Echuca Newsagency BM70 (1600m)

In a hard race on paper to assess three runners stand out from the field.

Gold Fontein is second up on Thursday where it has won previously. First up at the same level the mare finished within half a length of the eventual winner and will certainly improve from that run.

Baradine Boy has been racing in great form recently. After winning at Wodonga in the middle of June the three-year-old went on to just miss out and Wangaratta by half a length. The horse returns after a month away from the track and it has won at Echuca and the 1600m journey previously.

Five-year-old Arachne returns to the Echuca track after an admirable second following a tardy getaway earlier in the month. The horse has never missed a placing at Echuca and has previously won and placed at the mile. The daughter of Hard Spun gets a jump from gate four and will have no excuses.

Race 9 – 1Print BM64 (1400m)

Speed Stinger was a stylish winner on debut at Geelong for the Maher camp and from a good draw should get a great cart into the race. Under returning superstar Regan Bayliss the horse will get every chance to maintain the unbeaten run.

Another Bender has a tricky barrier to overcome, but any luck from gate 10 will see mare right in the mix on Thursday. The last-start win at Geelong was encouraging as is the one win and one place from four races at the distance.

Elle Excite is looking to go back-to-back at the Echuca track following a strong win just over a fortnight ago. The mare reunites with Harry Coffey, and from barrier six will get the opportunity to dictate its own terms. No reason to think the experienced galloper cannot take out this race.

Waitaha Prophecy has been impressive recently without breaking through for an elusive win. The seven-year-old has finished inside the first four in its last quartet of runs and last time out at Wagga only narrowly missed out on getting the win. The horse has great experience over this journey and should be fighting out the finish.

Race 10 – Border Inn BM64 (1100m)

Brightly Goes comes into the final race on the Echuca card following a hard fought second placing at Corowa. The horse returns to a track where it has won once and placed twice across four runs and will look to improve even further from that last-start placing.

Flying Spark may not have saluted on a racetrack in 2017 but the horse is running in arguably the best form of any runner in the field. In its last seven runs it has missed the placings twice and the first four just once. A 66 percent placing strike rate at the distance suggests it will be well placed here.

The Michelle Payne-trained and ridden Duke Of Nottingham is a HorseBetting.com.au favourite that is having its second run back on Thursday. The horse has one win from one attempt at Echuca and has proven to be a quality sprinter in the past. A clean getaway from barrier one will be the key.

Zoot Suit Riot jumps from a highly unfavourable barrier on Thursday, but the gelding can be in the finish here with some luck. Only one has the horse missed a placing at this distance which also boasts two wins from five attempts. A run to suit will be required, but the horse has the early speed to get across.
