quaddie tips
THE quaddie this week heads to rural Victoria as the country town of Wangaratta hosts a competitive eight-race card on Thursday.

A number of classy runners are taking part in Thursday’s action, and we’re certain to see some city-type horses emerge.

HorseBetting.com.au are not only providing the quaddie tips for Thursday’s meet, but we are also delivering on track coverage for what should be a fantastic day of racing.

Race five on the card at Ballarat is the Yes Optus Wangaratta benchmark 64, which kicks off the quaddie at 3pm.

Race 5 – Yes Optus Wangaratta BM64 (1400m)

Summer Glen is looking to bounce back after a terrible showing at Flemington last week and gets the ideal race to do so on Thursday. The filly has been racing in much stronger company than what it will confront in country Victoria.

Miss Siska is a lightly-raced filly which is third up on Thursday. The three-year-old is stripping fitter with every start and has been fairly consistent across its four starts that have mostly been amongst city company. The horse has the early speed to overcome the perils of the wide draw.

Yisa is a Weir runner that won its debut race back two weeks ago at Sale. Although the grade of race was fairly weak the win was so impressive that we are including the filly in our selections for the quaddie opener.

Race 6 – Bi-Rite Home Appliances BM70 (1590m)

Smooth Danish has been racing in consistent form without breaking through for a win. The eight-year-old has only missed the first four once in its last eight starts and has been racing around the region for the past two years. Looks set for a change in fortune.

Four-year-old mare Whirlpool has been racing extremely well over its last four starts which has seen it win twice and place once. It is one of the few horses that has tasted success at this grading and will be very hard to hold out if it can find a prominent position early in the piece.

Gelding Baradine Boy is only lightly raced but has shown plenty of promise throughout its six start career, which has yielded two wins. Its last start win at Wodonga over this distance was ultra-impressive and the three-year-old gets a 4kg relief on that run.

Race 7 – GA Cheshire and Sons BM70 (1100m)

Sasayuri is a horse who knows how to win, as evidenced by its 12 start, five win career to date. The mare jumps 5kg from its last start but the four-year-old has a class about it that cannot be denied.

Miss Benedetta resumes after a short layoff following a disappointing run at Sandown on June 7. Prior to that the mare had placed in four straight races and took out a benchmark 64 race at Warrnambool. The horse possesses the early speed to overcome barrier 10 and if it can find a solid position in transit it should be right in the mix.

Stratum Magic’s last start win at Sale was eye-catching at the beginning of the month and the mare will benefit from close to a month away from the track. The four-year-old has one start for one win at the distance and will be looking to resume in style on its debut Wangaratta run.

Race 8 – Crownbet BM64 (1300m)

Diamondcowboy resumes after 45 days away from the track and looks poised to have a great run first up. The horse has won twice, and placed a further three times upon resumption and has the ability to take this out as one of the old boys of the field.

At almost the complete opposite end of the spectrum, Indelible Lass comes into Thursday’s race as a one win from two starts three-year-old. The Maher-trained filly resumes after almost six months off the track and looks well placed to make an impression.

Avery is another resuming horse after four months away from the track, but its last-start win back in February shows it has no problems finding the line strongly. This will be the horse’s first attempt at 1300m but the filly’s record to date suggests it is more than capable of winning at that journey.
