The 2022 Memsie Stakes winner, Snapdancer, will be sold as a broodmare prospect in 2023 after her connections announced on Wednesday that her racing days were over.

Managing part-owner Brad Spicer from Spicer Thoroughbreds said the Choisir mare had provided her connections some marvellous memories throughout her short career.

Spicer also said he was certain she would go on to make her mark as a broodmare when she is sold in 2023 at either the Inglis Chairman’s Sale in April or the Magic Millions sale in May.

“She’s been such a star for us and none of us will ever forget those Group 1 wins – she was just sensational,” Spicer said.

At her final three starts, Snapdancer won the Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes at Morphettville and the Memsie Stakes at Caulfield, while she ran second in the Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara in Brisbane.

Snapdancer’s Memsie Stakes win

Snapdancer won the Memsie Stakes in late August this year, before being set for The Everest at Randwick, but she had to be withdrawn with a hoof complaint, ultimately ending her career.

Ciaron Maher and David Eustace trained Snapdancer throughout her career and they released a statement via Twitter, thanking Spicer and the owners for allowing them to train the mare.

“We’d like to thank Brad (Spicer) and all the owners for the opportunity to train such a wonderful mare, and we look forward to seeing her progeny in the future,” the statement read.

Snapdancer recorded seven wins and seven placings from her 20 career starts, earning just over $2 million.
