Caulfield Races Betting Preview – January 26, 2021
The Australia Day races are set to be run and won at Caulfield on Tuesday afternoon where an eight race card is set down for decision. The rail is out 6m the entire circuit, and with 1-5mm of rain expected on race day, we could see a downgrade from the Good 4 the track has come up as. The card will host three listed races as well as the Group 3 Blue Diamond Preview for the fillies.
The first at Caulfield on Tuesday is set to jump at 1:10pm AEDT.
Best Bet: Race 1 – Diamonds Inthe Sky #3
With such a top quality card at Caulfield on Tuesday, there looks to be plenty of value to play with throughout the card. None more so than in the opening race with the combination of Peter Moody and Will Price and their three-year-old filly Diamonds Inthe Sky. Her last win at Caulfield was full of heart having led the field up and despite being headed with 200m she fought back to get off the canvas and go on to score by half a length. In a race that is full of runners who will want to fight for the front, having barrier three could be a big advantage. She will make sure it is a genuinely run 1200m event and considering she is the only runner in the field with winning Caulfield form, Diamonds Inthe Sky is a clear best bet on the Caulfield card.

Next Best: Race 8 – Regardsmaree #5
The Nick Ryan trained Regardsmaree looks the best way to ‘get out’ on the Caulfield card. The four-year-old has returned in fine form this campaign with a win at Bendigo on December 13, and followed it up with a narrow defeat over this track and distance on January 2. The form from that run at Caulfield was franked on Saturday afternoon when Grinzinger Allee won at Sandown as well as King Magnus. From the wide barrier Regardsmaree will need to go to the rear of the field, which is no detriment to his chances considering he is a get back and run on galloper naturally. Look for him to be charging down the outside late and salute as one of our better bets on the Australia Day card in the last leg of the quaddie.

Best Value: Race 2 – Duke Of Plumpton #2
Patrick Payne and Madison Lloyd combine in the second race of the Caulfield card with the ever consistent Duke Of Plumpton. Following a close up second in the Koroit Cup at Warrnambool on January 10 his third up form suggests he is a key chance in race 2 especially if the rain comes. His second up form is pleasant reading with a record of 4: 1-2-0 and add that to his wet form of 12: 4-4-0 the odds of $8.50 look to be a touch of overs if the rain does arrive.
