Recent Bill Ritchie Handicap results
- After Rediener won the race 12 months ago, the Chris Waller barn have picked up back-to-back wins in the Group 3 Bill Ritchie Handicap (1400m), with Mchale ($26.00) powering between horses to claim victory at Randwick.Felix Majestic ($19.00) was the one attempting to make every post a winner under Molly Bourke and gave a strong kick heading into the home straight, while Kintyre ($16.00) was brave throughout, sitting three-wide no cover throughout the journey. Mchale settled slightly worse than mid-field in the middle stages, while the well-supported favourite Tom Kitten ($3.70) was forced to sit back-and-wide throughout the contest. The four-year-old gelding needed to navigate a passage through a wall of horses in the final 400m, with Rachel King utilizing timing her ride to perfection, as the Ciaron Maher-trained Gringotts ($4.60) launched to make it a grandstand finish. The pair could only be separated by a photo, with Mchale getting the nod by the barest of margins,
- After capping off his three-year-old season with a strong performance, Rediener has emerged as a promising contender for the lightweight Group 1 Epsom Handicap. The gelding showcased his potential with a victory in the Group 3 Bill Ritchie Handicap (1400m) at Randwick. Under the guidance of Kathy O’Hara for trainer Chris Waller, Rediener returned to the track for the first time since his triumph in the Group 3 Gunsynd Classic at Eagle Farm in June. Positioned well throughout, following the pace set by Tamerlane and Wild Planet, Rediener found clear running at the 200m mark and surged ahead to secure a 1.25-length win over the veteran Cuban Royale, with Wild Planet finishing half a length behind in third.
- At only his third start in Australia, Top Ranked ($5.50) has claimed his first victory in the Group 3 Bill Ritchie Handicap at Randwick. Hugh Bowman sat quietly on the ex-European stallion before bursting through a gap halfway down the straight to run away with a dominant victory. Both Top Ranked and Purple Sector ($11) were the only two runners to get past the leader and race favourite Cross Talk ($2.50), who was relegated to third.
- After being sent around as the bookies favourite, the Chris Waller-trained Atishu ($3.50) has claimed the Group 3 Bill Ritchie Handicap. Tim Clark settled the daughter of Savabeel close to the speed and was able to find clear air at the top of the straight to chase down the leader Prime Star ($21), and held off Looks Like Elvis ($31) who stuck on for second. Aramayo ($13) lengthened nicely down the outside to nab third a further length behind the top two.
- Jamie Richards and Kerrin McEvoy have combined with Probabeel ($2.45) to claim the Group 3 Bill Ritchie Handicap. The New Zealand-trained mare was sent around as the clear market elect and after settling behind the leaders, this daughter of Savabeel proved to classy for her rivals and ran over the top of Cuba ($12) in the final 100m. Charging home behind the top two, Brandenburg ($6) and Dadoozdart ($81) ran home nicley to finish third and fourth, respectively.
- Kolding ($7) and Fierce Impact ($10) battled out one of the closest finishes in the Group 3 Bill Ritchie Handicap, with only 0.2 lengths separating the two on the winning post. The Chris Waller-trained gelding looked to be beaten at the 100m mark, but under the urgings of Glen Boss, he picked up and put in a dive on the post to claim victory. A further two lengths behind the leading duo, Overlord ($5.50) battled on nicely into third place.
