Belmont Oaks 2020 betting tips, value bets & trifecta picks

The Listed Belmont Oaks is the feature race on the card in Perth on Saturday afternoon. A field of 11 fillies will face the starter for the 2000m event, with Kay Cee the $1.70 favourite on the back of superior form. Ginger Flyer and Tradensia look to be the speed influences in the race, with Kay Cee and Chantrea mapping to settle towards the end and make their runs together. It does look a race in two chances, with Kay Cee the obvious.

Kay Cee @ $1.70
It’s nearly impossible to bet around the favourite here. Kay Cee is shooting for four wins on the bounce, with the first of those being the Group 1 Kingston Town Classic against the older horses at the end of her last preparation. She has since returned with two wins in the Listed Raconteur Stakes and the Listed Belmont Guineas. She has only tasted defeat once at this course from five starts, which is huge advantage considering some of these have only had the one look around the course. She steps up to 2000m for the first time, but we suggest that will not be an issue given her success at Group 1 level over 1800m. Drawn in gate four, Steven Parnham should settle a touch worse than midfield and finish strongly over the top of them. At level weights, we expect her to win another feature race here.

Chantrea @ $4
Lindsay Smith’s unbeaten filly Chantrea looks the main danger to Kay Cee coming off a brilliant win last start at 1700m. By Puissance de Lune, we know she will eat up the 2000m, but whether she has the class of the favourite is another matter. To be ridden by the Wizard from the West, William Pike, out of barrier eight, it’s likely she will be spotting Kay Cee a start as they corner for home. She is a two-time winner at Belmont, which is going to help her case, and finds herself carrying 4kg less than her last-start victory. She will have to improve to beat a Group 1 winner, but she will be aided by the rise in trip.
