Is it time to re-evaluate the world’s best racing rankings?
HAS there ever been a more spine-tingling weekend of racing?
From the spectacular return to the track for Winx to the second up, redemption-seeking Arrogate, all the big guns were on the track.
From watching Winx win from the TVG studio to Arrogate fighting his heart out at Del Mar, it was a memorable racing weekend.

As always, the Twitterverse had its say over both races.
Stunning Winx delivers one of its best wins ever
It did not all go according to plan for the wondermare Winx in its search for an 18th straight win, but the result was a familiar one.
The champion missed the start by four lengths and the nation held its breath as the unthinkable scenario of Winx losing started to become a possibility.
Thankfully the horse – which now has won over $13 million – surged to the line to beat stablemate Foxplay in one of the most dynamic finishes you will see this year.
Missed the start by 4 lengths and still wins. I love you #winx

One punter captured the candid moment of the race live, and it is fair to say his reaction echoed the sigh of relief a lot of racing folks had on the line.
My natural reaction when #winx got up….wow what a mare she is #gowinx pic.twitter.com/kj0TorfUkm

For fans of other sports, it gave hope that their team could produce a similarly styled comeback to score the win.
Unfortunately, not every team has the thoroughbred qualities of our Winx.
I've already seen this one today. Wallabies just missed the start. They'll win by a head.. #winx #bledisloe #BledisloeCup

Sorry Wallabies, we do not even think Hughy Bowman could have got you guys over the line.
Arrogate flops again on the big stage
If this does not put our Winx at the top of the world rankings for best racehorse, then there is something seriously wrong.

Superstar Arrogate lost its second consecutive race over the weekend, but put in a much better performance in the Group One Pacific Classic.

Comparisons came almost instantly following the defeat, this time to a notable retired English great.

We think champions of the present should not be stacked against guns of the past, so we will leave those comparisons to the Twitterverse.
The horse that won was no mug, but the calls for Arrogate to retire came thick and fast.
I would retire Arrogate. He's proved and accomplished enough. Then again I'm not a trainer. @JohnGDooley @brianwspencer @Alyssa_Ali

Perhaps it's time for Arrogate to retire from racing, find a nice hunter-jumper barn and be spoiled by ladies all day. ❤️🏇❤️

Others saw the calls for the champ to retire coming and treated them with the requisite disdain required.

Retirement may not be on the cards, but the question is: where to now for Arrogate?
One Twitter user believes the horse still has one big race left in it.
Arrogate may not be the same horse, though that race wouldn't stop me from running him in The Breeders Cup. He doesn't need to retire yet.

Wherever it goes next, we hope it can end its fabulous career on a winning note, but let’s face it – it is time Winx leapfrogs its American counterpart into that number one ranking.
A 2nd for Arrogate… let's just give WINX the @worldsbesthorse title already!!! #GoWinx

We concur.
