Punt Drunk: More heat for Currie as Kah eyes metro record
Punt Drunk racing news – January 29, 2021
G’day and welcome to Punt Drunk – the premier daily pisstake in the horse racing industry. Today we have headlines surrounding Glen Boss, Jamie Kah and Ben Currie, as well as betting tips from New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria.
Bossy loves the Dragon
Just finished final prep for the TAB Everest. Feeling great ??. Bring it on? pic.twitter.com/jaXslI7Pte

Any excuse to bring out this ripper of a tweet from the night before the 2019 running of The Everest. However, following the return to the trials of Sir Dragonet, we think Glen Boss may have had a cold shower to calm himself down. After Thursday’s hitout in Geelong, Boss said, “I don’t want to get ahead of myself – but I have been waiting over 10 years for a horse like this.” It’s a big statement considering he rode Bivouac to a commanding victory in the VRC Sprint Classic not so long ago. Bossy is set for a big Autumn Carnival, and who is to say there won’t be more bath-time celebrations for the legendary jockey?
Kah primed for greatness
What a way to kick off 2021 for @jamieleekah07. Another great treble. ?? pic.twitter.com/KKEYFxTFoC

Brett Prebble’s long-standing record of 99.5 metro wins in a season is in grave danger of being broken. The red-hot Jamie Kah has been touted as the next jockey to brave the Nature Strip task, and with plenty of good rides ahead during the Autumn Carnival, who is to say she can’t crack the ton? Imagine the scenes if she does become the first jockey to notch 100 wins in a metro racing season? She’s a bloody champion already, but if she does this… move over Gai, there’s a new queen of racing!
Nothing worse than a bad Currie
Banned Queensland trainer Ben Currie has been disqualified until May 31 this year and fined $14,000 at the conclusion of outstanding charges against him. https://t.co/DwLAonsTAj

Ben Currie already had more charges put against him than Schapelle Corby’s boogie board, yet it was announced yesterday that his disqualification period had been extended to May 31. Adding even more heat to the vindaloo, he also copped another $14,000 fine. It’s going to be an impressive effort for Currie to overcome all the challenges has been facing during his suspension. We’ll be here waiting with our Butter Chicken (if you haven’t blackbooked him, this is a prompt reminder) to see how good Currie goes when he rejoins the training ranks.
