Wednesday Racing Tips: Sandown, February 13 betting strategy

TWILIGHT racing is back at Sandown this Wednesday and we’re excited by what looks like a quality summer mid-week race meet.

Our team of experts has pored over the form and delivered tips for all eight events on the Sandown card. Take a look at who they are backing below.

*All odds were provided by our trusted online bookmakers and were correct at the time of publication

Race 1 – Maiden Plate (1400m)

Abraded is second-up and should be fitter for the last hit out.

Last time out at Geelong the horse wasn’t too far off the mark, missing out by just under a length and a half. The horse continues to carry 58.5kg, which puts it at the top of the weights but we believe the gelding isn’t too far away from winning.

Race 2 – Rs0mw (1300m)

Lindsay Park runner Fling wasn’t sensational on debut at Geelong but we think she will be better for the raceday experience.

The experienced Craig Williams gets the ride and from the perfect barrier we feel the filly will be able to deliver a much more settled performance.

Race 3 – BM64 (1300m)

Terbium is the best bet of the day at Sandown on Wednesday.

After smashing the field by three lengths at Strathalbyn on debut the horse backed it up nicely at Pakenham, winning by the same margin at Class 1 level.

The horse carries a huge 61kg but the claim for Kayla Crowther will help immensely. Back the gelding in with confidence.

Race 4 – BM64 (2400m)

Vellaspride is due for a change of luck.

Coming into this event the gelding has recorded four-straight second placings, going down by a combined 3.5 lengths. The four-year-old steps up to the 2400m distance for the first time in his career but we’re confident he can go one better on Wednesday.

Race 5 – BM64 (1800m)

Jungle Fish is looking to go back-to-back this preparation.

The horse broke the maiden in great fashion last time out at Pakenham, winning by just shy of four and a half lengths. Jungle Fish only jumps 1.5kg on the back of that win, and while the mare jumps from the car park draw, she’s good enough to go on with the job.

Race 6 – BM64 (1300m)

A tricky barrier will be the only thing holding Savvy Oak back in this event.

The classy gelding has raced in much stronger company than this, with his last start being in the Group 1 Victoria Derby. Savvy Oak resumes here, where he has a perfect one-for-one record.

Race 7 – BM70 (1400m)

Something Silver is hunting a hat-trick in the seventh event.

The grey mare is fresh off a narrow victory at Sandown carrying 60.5kg at BM60 F&M level, and while she’s back against the blokes on Wednesday the form cannot be knocked.

We’re backing the place price here, it’s too good to ignore.

Something Silver is at $5.50 via our trusted online bookmakers

Race 8 – BM70 (1000m)

Villa Sarchi is third up in the final event looking to make it two wins from as many starts at this point of the preparation.

The horse resumed well with a win at at this track before a fourth placed finish second-up at Moonee Valley. The horse had only previously placed once second-up in the preparation so we’re backing a bounce back performance.
