Warwick Farm Betting Preview – January 26, 2021

Australia Day races are here again, and to celebrate, punters are gifted with seven races out of Warwick Farm. It is a good 4 there, and the rail is in the true position. Due to hot weather around the course, Race 1 has been pushed back to a 3:15pm start.

Best Bet : Race 5 – Marway #3

Now there might be some bias here being a Central Queenslander, but Marway looks perfectly placed for his first run in Sydney and what will be his first race in nearly a year. Having moved into the care of Mark Newnham, the ex-Rockhampton galloper left the stable of John O’Sing who also trained Our Boy Malachi who took to black type racing in NSW & Victoria like a duck to water. Marway has had the benefit of a recent trial where he won well at Randwick, and gets Rachel King aboard here from Barrier 3. The winner of eight races is yet to win one fresh, but he’s placed in four of five and is never too far away. The warm weather will be nothing unusual for the son of Hemingway, who will take some serious catching over the 1000m.

Next Best : Race 3 – He’s A Hotshot #1

Bjorn Baker and Josh Parr combine with consistent galloper, He’s a Hotshot. He comes off a 2.4L defeat by Count De Rupee who was 5kg better off at the weights and had some good form around Private Eye, so it’s no knock on the top weight here. He drops back to BM72, but does rise 3.5kg which will be a mission. On a bone dry track over 1200m will be his ideally racing conditions, and he gets the speed on in the race which will suit given he can settle midfield and be finishing off the better. This looks his perfect race.

Next BestRace 3 – He’s A Hotshot (#1)$4.80 with Sportsbet

Best Value : Race 2 – Saas Fee #6

Gerald Ryan & Sterling Alexiou saddle up Saas Fee in race 2, a Fillies & Mares Benchmark 72 over 1400m. The All Too Hard mare promised a fair bit early in her career, and looked to be back to some good form with a nice second first-up this prep, but she’s been just battling away in some tougher races. Put a pen through last start, she was fresh off a five week break and found the company too strong. This will be a bit easier, she’s fitter for the run and gets back to Warwick Farm which is the track where she won her first and only race. Brenton Avdulla goes aboard and should get a nice cart into the race from barrier 6 in the small field. We expect her to run a hole here.

Best ValueRace 2 – Saas Fee (#6)$14.00 with Sportsbet
