First Race 2:25pm AEST

Metro racing in NSW returns to Warwick Farm for a quickfire six-part program this Wednesday afternoon. The sunny skies forecast leading into race-day should leave participants racing on a Good 4 surface, while the rail returns to its true position. The opening race at Warwick Farm is scheduled to get underway at 2:25pm AEST.

Best Bet: Island Dream

Island Dream arrives in peak order and sticks to the Warwick Farm mile after a dominant BM72 win here on September 3. She draws to park just behind the speed from barrier eight, and with James McDonald back aboard, the mare’s 1400–1600m profile and on-pace versatility look ideal at this level. A genuine tempo should let her blend into the race before the bend and use that sustained last 400m sprint again. Island Dream looks hard to turn over if she reproduces her latest effort.

Best Bet

Race 6 – Island Dream Silks#2 Island Dream (8)

4yo Mare | T: Chris Waller | J: James McDonald (61kg)

Next Best: Napoleonic

Napoleonic looks primed to go back-to-back as he takes to the track for the third time this prep, dropping into a BM68 for three-year-olds over 1200m. From barrier four with James McDonald on board, the three-year-old colt maps to stalk the speed and launch at the 300m; his dominant Wyong maiden win rated well and this is a logical next step. With even luck, Napoleonic should be winning.

Next Best

Race 2 – Napoleonic Silks#6 Napoleonic (4)

3yo Colt | T: John O’Shea & Tom Charlton | J: James McDonald (59kg)

Best Value: War Ribbon

War Ribbon draws the rails stepping to 2110m and looks ready to strike first-up this campaign. The son of Calyx gets a soft map to camp behind the leaders, and David Payne’s stayers typically lift once they reach a trip. With Keagan Latham to nurse him through the rise, a return to his soft-ground winning range brings him right into this BM72. At an each-way price with horse racing bookmakers, War Ribbon looks hard to hold out.

Best Value

Race 3 – War Ribbon Silks#4 War Ribbon (1)

4yo Gelding | T: David Payne | J: Keagan Latham (57kg)
