BEST BET AT SWAN HILL: PAPER DRAGON
The Henry Dwyer-trained Paper Dragon caused a massive boilover at Moonee Valley on March 18 when saluting at $26, but despite not getting that type of price on Monday, she simply looks too good for this lot. She draws barrier one for this and with Tahlia Hope sticking on board, we expect to see the pair hold the rail, dictate terms throughout and ultimately prove too hard to run down. The $3.20 on offer from Unibet is a perfect price for a runner who clearly looks like the best bet of the day.
NEXT BEST AT SWAN HILL: POWER OF SONG
One of our better bets of the day comes up in the opening event of the day, when the Symon Wilde-trained Power Of Song looks well-placed to break her maiden at start five. The three-year-old filly travelled three wide the trip when beaten under a half-length at Ballarat on March 27, suggesting with a softer run, she most likely wins that day. She draws out wide in barrier 12, but we expect Joe Bowditch to be aggressive early and have the Your Song filly settled outside the leader, or in the one-one throughout. As long as she does not get trapped wide, the $2.80 on offer from Neds looks a steal.
BEST VALUE AT SWAN HILL: KOYUGA BOUND
The Austy Coffey-trained Koyuga Bound hit the frame for the first time in his five-start career when finish third at the 1200m at Swan Hill on March 20. We expect he will build on that effort when he steps up to the 1300m, especially considering he looks set to be the race leader having drawn from barrier 12. If he gains a nice cart across the front of the field, he showed last time out that he can offer a kick when required. This doesn’t look to be the toughest maiden going around, and we are more than happy to take the $13 on offer with online betting sites.
