Sunshine Coast Turf Club will host a very competitive seven-race card this Friday evening. At the time of acceptances, the track was rated as a Heavy 9; however, with no rain forecast on Thursday and Friday, it is expected that the surface will improve into the Soft range by race day. The rail will go back into the true position, with the first race scheduled to jump at 6pm AEST.

Best Bet at Sunshine Coast: Rashford

Rashford has finished second in his last two starts this preparation and appears ready to win third-up. Although the Chris Munce-trained gelding finished behind Kalends at Doomben over 1650m last time out, he defeated the rest of his rivals by three lengths. Now that he is at peak fitness and meets a weaker field than his previous runs, Rashford should be able to break his maiden at the sixth time of asking.

Best Value at Sunshine Coast: Rudimentary

Rudimentary may only have one win to his name from 28 starts, but he meets a field with similar or lesser credentials here. The Stephen Sutherland-trained gelding beat all bar the impressive Man Of Heart on March 31 over the Sunshine Coast 2000m, although he was 5.3 lengths adrift of the winner. With little to no speed in this 1800m contest, Michael Hellyer will take Rudimentary to the front and run the race to suit himself.
