The Stutt Stakes is a Group 2 horse racing event held at Moonee Valley Racecourse and is run over 1600m.

The Stutt Stakes is named after former chairman of the Moonee Valley Racing Club, Bill Stutt. The event was originally run as the Moonee Valley Stakes up until 1989.
The Stutt Stakes is often a good form factor for the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m), traditionally held two weeks post the running of the Stutt Stakes.
The last horse to do the Stutt Stakes/Caulfield Guineas double was Whobegotyou in 2008.

- Smart three-year-old Evaporate maintained his rich-vein of form with a comfortable victory in the Group 2 Stutt Stakes (1600m) at The Valley. Trainers Ben, Will and JD Hayes continue to build the confidence of the good looking son of Per Incanto, who has now won four races in succession. After a winless two-year-old season, Evaporate bounced off a maiden victory at Cranbourne at the beginning of the season to win a pair of Saturday races at The Valley before taking the step up to stakes company in his stride at the inner city Melbourne venue. After travelling comfortably throughout under Mick Dee, Evaporate was presented rounding the home bend and was an easy length victor from Henlein who closed well for second.
- Although he was unwanted late in the betting, Griff ($5.00) from the Ciaron Maher & David Eustace yard has claimed his second victory in as many starts, after taking out the Group 2 Stutt Stakes at Moonee Valley. The son of Trapeze Artist was very impressive last start in the Exford Plate at Flemington, where Mark Zahra gave him a great ride from midfield to run over the top of his rivals late; however, on Friday night, Zahra took his mount to the front and took luck out the equation from a wide barrier. After jumping sweetly, Zahra gave Griff a dig in the ribs and went to the front before settling outside the race leader in Limburg ($41.00). Griff and Limburg ran the race to suit themselves by going at an even tempo, and as they rounded the home turn, Zahra went for his colt and he kicked clear to defeat the fast-finishing and heavily backed Verdad ($4.00) and Autumn Angel ($7.00), who filled the placings.
- He might’ve had winkers on, but Tijuana can now look ahead and believe in his chances for the Caulfield Guineas. That was the message from trainer Ben Hayes after Tijuana’s half-length victory in the $300,000 Group 2 Stutt Stakes at Moonee Valley on Friday night. Mark Zahra made his move aboard the three-year-old colt at the 250m mark in the mile feature, and the $2.30 favourite with was too good from there. Having settled outside the lead, when Zahra asked for an effort, Tijuana responded like a good horse should to account for Fojuita San ($6) and Virtuous Circle ($15).
- Forgot You has stamped his class for the second time at The Valley to get up off the canvas and claim his first stakes race victory. The Savabeel three-year-old scored over 1500m at The Valley the start prior and made the most of his track experience in the Stutt Stakes. After enjoying the one-one position behind the pace set by Sandy Prince, Forgot You ($4.60) was left flat-footed approaching the home turn before charging late to claim Mr Mozart ($4.80) on the line with Daily Bugle ($26) in third place.
- Peter Moody’s Glenfiddich was the toast of the town when he ran his rivals ragged in the Stutt Stakes. Sent out as a $2.50 favourite, Luke Nolen took the son of Fastnet Rock straight to the front and with a relatively uncontested lead, managed to put two-lengths on his rivals in a dominant display. Cherry Tortoni ($4.20) ran on well from the rear of the field, whilst Holyfield ($4.20) weakened after settling second outside the eventual leader to finish third, beaten 2.2 lengths.
- There was to be no catching the Trent Busuttin & Natalie Young-trained The Holy One as the former Kiwi managed to lead throughout to claim the 2019 Group 2 Stutt Stakes. Sent out as a $9 chance, Brett Prebble opted to take luck out of the equation and found the front with relative ease and from there, the pair would not be headed. The win was made even more impressive as Pebble lost his whip rounding the turn before recovering just in time to deliver The Holy One’s third win from five career starts.
