What Eagle Farm Races
Where Eagle Farm Racecourse – 230 Lancaster Rd, Ascot QLD 4007
When Saturday, March 25, 2023
First Race 11:53am AEST

Racing will return to Eagle Farm Racecourse for a nine-race program this Saturday afternoon. With warm weather and no rain forecast for the Brisbane area on Friday and Saturday, we expect to be racing on the current Good 4 track rating for the whole day. The rail will move out slightly to the +1m position for the entire circuit, with racing set to kick off at 11:53am AEST.

Best Bet at Eagle Farm: Sha Of Gomer

Our best bet for the day at Eagle Farm will be the Chris Waller-trained Sha Of Gomer, who has won back-to-back races over 1200m and 1350m and will now race over 1600m for the first time in his nine-race career. This three-year-old gelding was very impressive last time out, when he had a lot of traffic in front of him halfway down the home straight, but he found a gap along the rail and burst through to win easily. This Shalaa son is now at peak fitness as he prepares for his sixth race of the season, and he looks ready to attempt the 1600m after strong wins in his last two starts. James Orman will retain the ride on this gelding on Saturday, looking for his third win in a row after giving him back-to-back 10 out of 10 rides. We expect Orman to settle Sha Of Gomer near the back of the field and let him find his feet on the outside of the field before letting down with that customary turn of foot and proving too strong in the closing stages from barrier eight.

Next Best Bet at Eagle Farm: Fastconi

The penultimate race of the day will be a Benchmark 78 Handicap over 1200m, which will feature another of our better bets of the day. Fastconi, trained by Chris Waller, is coming off his first defeat of his preparation, when he missed the kick and settled at the back of the field before finishing third at this track and distance on March 11. This son of Nicconi was ultra-impressive over 1200m at Doomben and the Sunshine Coast when first and second-up this time out, winning by 1.5 and 2 lengths. James Orman has ridden this five-year-old gelding in all three of his Queensland starts, and he will do so again on Saturday, looking for a third win at his fourth ride. As he drops in grade from a Class 6 to a Benchmark 78 Handicap, Orman should be able to settle Fastconi closer to the pace and flip the script on his most recent start.

Next Best

Best Value Bet at Eagle Farm: Go Millo

The fifth race of the day will be the day’s lone staying event over 2200m, and our value bet of the day will go around at massive odds. Go Millo, trained by Mark Currie, will race over 2200m on Saturday after finishing third in the same grade over 2400m two weeks ago behind Tappys Lad, who runs in the Group 1 Tancred Stakes at Rosehill on Saturday. Despite finishing third by 4.8 lengths, this son of Epaulette was forced to settle three-wide the trip behind the leaders and still had the audacity to finish in the placings over 2400m. On Saturday, Justin Stanley will ride Go Millo for the first time, and from barrier six, he should be able to get a better run than last time and give us a huge sight at $31 with online bookmakers.

Best Value

Race 5 – Silks#6 Go Millo (6)
