First Race 11:59am AWST

Racing will return to the Belmont Racecourse this Saturday afternoon, where the Western Australian Turf Club will host a very competitive nine-race card. The track is currently rated a Good 4, and with no rain on the forecast for Friday and Saturday, we expect to be racing on a perfect surface for racing for the entire program. The rail will be pushed out to the +3m position for the entire circuit, with racing set to kick off at 11:59am AWST.

Best Bet at Belmont: Rear Admiral

Our best bet on the program will be the Sean & Jake Casey-trained Rear Admiral who will be looking to extend her unbeaten start to her career, after returning from a four-month layoff with a tough win over 1000m at Ascot on May 6. This three-year-old filly has won all her four race starts to date, with the latest being one of her best, as she was pressured in the lead throughout, before kicking clear to put up a winning margin and won by just over half a length. On Saturday, the daughter of Astern will step up to 1200m, where she is unbeaten from three attempts during her short career. Jordan Turner will continue his strong affiliation with this filly – seeking his fifth win from five rides – with the only query being that she will have to jump from barrier nine and cross the field to lead. If Turner can get Rear Admiral to jump well and find the front without doing too much work, she should be winning again.

Next Best at Belmont: Devine Belief

The opening leg of the quaddie will feature another of our better bets at Belmont, with Devine Belief from the David Harrison yard coming off a massive win at Ascot over 1000m on May 3. Since returning from a seven-month spell on April 20, this three-year-old filly has finished in the top two at both starts as the favourite with online bookmakers, with her last start 3.3 length victory being the most dominant and best win of her career. This daughter of Playing God proved way too good for her rivals last start and appears to have a lot of upside going into this One Metro Win Handicap on Saturday. From barrier nine, we expect to see Joseph Azzorpardi push forward and sit outside the likely leader in My Baby Blue Jean. If Devine Belief can settle outside the leader and then start to lift the tempo at the top of the home straight and kick clear, the rest will struggle to run her down in the final 200m.

Next Best

Race 6 – Silk #8 Devine Belief (9)

Best Value at Belmont: Vitalize

Our value play of the day will be the Neville Parnham-trained Vitalize who will be racing against many of the rivals that she met last start in a RTG66+ Handicap over 1400m at Ascot on April 6. This four-year-old mare has finished third and fourth at her two starts this preparation, with her third placing coming in the Listed Sheila Gwynne Classic, which is much stronger grade than what she will race in on Saturday. At her most recent start, this daughter of Cable Bay settled in the mid-field on the running rail, but as she went to make her run at the top of the home straight, the eventual winner blocked her run and made Chris Parnham stop riding. From the 300m mark she was never in the race. From barrier six, we should see Vitalize settle outside runners and get more luck on the home turn, and if she does, we expect her to turn the tables on her rivals from last start.

Best Value

Race 7 – Silk #3 Vitalize (6)

4yo Mare | T: Neville Parnham | J: Chris Parnham (57.5kg)
