Sandown will host a competitive eight-race card on the Hillside track this Wednesday afternoon. With little to no rain forecast in the lead-up, the track is expected to improve from the Soft 6 rating that was posted on Tuesday morning. The rail will be in the +5m position for the entire circuit, with the first race at Sandown scheduled to jump at 12:25pm AEST on July 16, 2025.

Best Bet at Sandown: Exit

After an indifferent debut in the Group 2 Blue Diamond Prelude (Fillies) back in February, Exit returns to the races following two strong jumpouts at Cranbourne. The Ciaron Maher-trained filly strikes a much weaker contest in her second start, and she has drawn a perfect barrier (4) for Blake Shinn. With even luck and a good run from the draw, Exit should prove too good for her rivals and break her maiden.

Next Best at Sandown: Herbert Park

Herbert Park returns to Sandown following her third-place finish behind Sixteen Reasons in a BM84 at Caulfield on June 28. The Tony Noonan-trained mare settled behind the speed and worked home nicely to finish less than a length behind the winner over 1100m. Now that she drops in grade to a BM70 and retains Dakotah Keane’s 3kg claim, Herbert Park gets every chance to record her first win of the campaign.

Best Value at Sandown: Almairac

Jake Noonan combines with Almairac for the third straight start as the five-year-old gelding rises to 2400m third-up. This son of Golden Horn travelled sweetly throughout the 2000m journey last time out, running third despite hitting traffic early in the straight. With horse racing bookmakers offering odds of +1700 for Almairac, he is a great each-way price in a wide-open contest.
