Sandown Hillside free racing preview & quaddie tips | July 2
What | Sandown Hillside Races |
Where | Sandown Racecourse – 591-659 Princes Hwy, Springvale VIC 3171 |
When | Wednesday, July 2, 2025 |
First Race | 12:25pm AEST |
The Hillside circuit at Sandown is in action on Wednesday with a competitive eight-race meeting set down for decision. With showers forecast on raceday, the Soft 6 track rating at the time of acceptances is unlikely to improve, while the rail sticks to its true position for the entire circuit. The Sandown Hillside races on July 2 are scheduled to commence at 12:25pm AEST.
Best Bet at Sandown: All Business
All Business has been consistent this preparation and comes off a smart runner-up finish at the Sandown Hillside 1600m. The three-year-old filly was beaten 3.3 lengths by the talented Knobelas but still managed to put two lengths on Colour Our World in third. She was forced to sprint off a slow speed in that race, but with a stronger tempo expected in this, it looks perfectly set up for All Business to be overhauling her rivals late.
Best Bet
Race 3 – #1 All Business (4)
3yo Filly | T: Leon & Troy Corstens & Will Larkin | J: Luke Cartwright (a3) (59.5kg)
Next Best at Sandown: La Fracas
La Fracas took his first-up record to three wins from as many attempts with a dominant last-to-first victory at Mornington on June 9. The son of Night Of Thunder is yet to run a drum in two second-up starts, but in a race that lacks much depth, he should be able to break that duck. Logan Bates’ 3kg claim gets him in perfectly with 58kg on his back, and as long as La Fracas can find a back to follow in the home straight, he should win again.
Next Best
Race 5 – #4 La Fracas (6)
4yo Gelding | T: Mick Price & Michael Kent (Jnr) | J: Logan Bates (a3) (61kg)
Best Value at Sandown: Eagle Express
A change of tactics last start saw Eagle Express settle towards the rear of the field and unleash a strong finish over the Sandown Hillside 1300m. Despite missing by the barest of margins, she is worth sticking with at the same track and trip. The Alabama Express filly will need a genuinely run affair once again, and with plenty of speed drawn close to the rail, she should get the opportunity to settle in the second half of the field before charging home at an each-way quote with horse racing bookmakers.
Best Value
Race 2 – #10 Eagle Express (8)
3yo Filly | T: Chris Waller | J: Jye McNeil (56.5kg)
