The Hillside track at Sandown is scheduled to host an eight-part card on Wednesday afternoon, and HorseBetting.com.au’s Victorian form analyst presents his best bets and quaddie selections with odds from Australia’s top betting sites. The track is rated a Good 4 with the rail out 9m for the entire circuit, and the meeting is set to get underway at 12:25pm AEST.

Sandown Best Bet: Impecunious

Our best bet of the day comes in the last race when the Trent Busuttin & Natalie Young-trained Impecunious resumes from a four-month spell. She is without a doubt the class runner on the Sandown card on Wednesday, having competed in the Group 1 Australian Oaks and finishing third in the Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes in Sydney during her initial Australian campaign. There is no doubt the Sacred Falls mare will be wanting further as her campaign progresses, with a run in the Caulfield Cup the main goal for connections. The 1300m may be a touch sharp in most people’s eyes, but she managed to win first-up at Caulfield over 1200m last campaign. She will get back in the running and should be hitting the line with great intent under a well-timed steer from Luke Currie.

Best BetRace 8 – Impecunious (#4) $2.80 with Sportsbet

Next Best at Sandown: Veranskova

The Cindy Alderson-trained Veranskova comes to the Hillside track looking to get back into the winner’s stall with a strong run over 1300m. She was last seen finishing second behind the Peter Moddy-trained Yulong Code on July 25, and that horse came out and won its next start at Murray Bridge. Prior to that run, she had been sent around as favourite at Caulfield second-up following an eye-catching win at Sale on June 9. Her win three starts back saw her eat up the ground late to claim victory in impressive fashion on a Soft 7. Having drawn barrier 11 on Wednesday, Veranskova will be settling in the second half of the field under Ben Melham, but as she showed first-up at Sale, she has the capability to run on strongly over the final 300m and finish over the top of her rivals.

Next BestRace 3 – Veranskova (#8) $2.90 with Sportsbet

Sandown Value Bet: Nordic Symphony

In the second leg of the quaddie, the Symon Wilde-trained Nordic Symphony comes to Sandown following a third-place finish at Moonee Valley on July 31. The six-year-old Glass Harmonium mare was beaten over four lengths by So You Assume, who subsequently won at Caulfield on August 14. Despite not winning in close to two years, it is worth noting her best performances have come on ground rated a Soft 5 or firmer, which she gets on Wednesday. With Melissa Julius on board and claiming 3kg, Nordic Symphony will go around with 58.5kg on her back and could prove hard to hold out at a nice price.

Best ValueRace 6 – Nordic Symphony (#2) $11 with Ladbrokes
