Ruakaka, in the North Island of New Zealand, will host eight races this Saturday on what is likely to remain a Soft surface with fine weather forecast between now and then. The first race begins at 12:05pm (NZST).
BEST BET AT RUAKAKA: DEVASTATE
The One Tree Point Motel is one of the feature races at Ruakaka on Saturday, and Devastate should be back in the mix here after failing to handle the Heavy 10 track conditions at his previous start. The track will be much more in his favour this week and he should get a cosy sit handy to the speed from his inside draw. Jockey Ashvin Goindasamy has had one ride on this horse for a win previously in similar conditions.

NEXT BEST AT RUAKAKA: POSER
The best bet comes midway through the program with Poser looking to make it two wins in a row after a convincing display in the Rotorua Cup last start. She looks a good stayer in the making and normally races handy in the first half of the field. The Soft track should suit and Tegan Newman is doing the riding again after winning on the mare at her previous race.

Trainer Chris Gibbs hardly ever leaves Ruakaka without a winner, and Chevron is one of his liked horses coming in fresh. He had a good run at the recent Avondale trials, closing off strongly for second in an open handicap over 1000m. He will appreciate the Soft conditions and also the course, where he has previously had nine starts for three wins and four minor placings. There should be a good each-way price on this horse to be found with his regular jockey Tegan Newman doing the riding.
