Kensington horse racing preview – March 25, 2021

Wednesday’s Warwick Farm meeting has been postponed until Thursday and transferred to the Randwick-Kensington track, where the surface is currently a Heavy 10 and the rail is out +5m for the entire circumference of the course. HorseBetting.com.au’s tipsters have done the form and bring you their best bets and value picks for the eight-race card.

Best Bet: Trifaccia

James Cummings looks to have a nice filly in Trifaccia who will no doubt go on to bigger and better things this autumn, but this looks a nice race for the two-year-old to break her maiden in. After being very green on debut and throwing her head around, she really let down nicely in the straight to be beaten by 1.5 lengths at this track and trip before going to the Group 2 Reisling Stakes and being beaten less than a length after sitting last upon straightening. While the drop back to 1100m does not look ideal, the I Am Invincible filly should simply be better than these. Barrier five under James McDonald is the perfect recipe for this promising one to break through.

Best BetRace 2 – Trifaccia (#8) $2.15 with Sportsbet

Next Best: Tommy Gold

John O’Shea and Tom Marquand combine with Tommy Gold in the last race of the day. The three-year-old comes off a solid fourth to Wild Ruler last start at Randwick, and that horse is one of the fancies in Saturday’s Group 1 The Galaxy. That form looks pretty handy for this Benchmark 72. By Sacred Falls, the gelding has proved to be good in the wet with a win and two placings on Soft tracks in the past; and given his sire was one of the best mudlarks of all time, we are assuming he will get through the Heavy going on Thursday. He will get a good run from barrier five under Marquand and should be good enough to hold off first-start winner and equal favourite Rainbow Connection.

Next BestRace 8 – Tommy Gold (#2) $4.80 with Sportsbet

Best Value: Lackeen

Godolphin import Lackeen trialled very nicely prior to his Australian debut in February at Rosehill, where he was given no chance despite being well backed into favouritism. He settled near the rear of the field on a day when it was very hard to make any ground and the leaders walked in front, which further squashed his chances. Rachel King has retained the ride and the outside alley isn’t perfect, but by this time in the day we expect the outside fence to be the place to be, so we are happy to side with the son of Shamardal. He has been back to the trials and finished a close second to Signore Fox, who is a Listed winner. We can make a strong case for this gelding.

Best ValueRace 7 – Lackeen (#5) $10 with Sportsbet
