Punt Drunk: NZ star Melody Belle on track for 2021 All Star Mile

Punt Drunk horse racing news & views

If we thought the Monday blues were bad, then the Tuesday blues can honestly get in the bin! We have three local gallops meetings to get us through to the smorgasbord of racing coming up over the next few days, and the team at HorseBetting.com.au will try to steer you into a couple of winners.

In today’s news we have another Group 1 superstar aiming up for the All Star Mile, an international megastar heading to Living Legends, and we’re set to have the best-ever Inglis Premier catalogue as well.

Anyway, we’ll make this quick, as the first isn’t too far away!

Melody Belle aiming for All Star Mile

Has New Zealand had a more beloved galloper in recent times than Melody Belle? The Kiwi mare is one of a plethora of superstar gallopers to have had their hat thrown in the ring for the All Star Mile at Moonee Valley in March 2021. The plan is for her to return to racing towards the back end of January in her home country, and if she can get through the Herbie Dyke Stakes at Te Rapa second up, then Jamie Richards looks set to send her towards the $5 million All Star Mile. Since her nomination, Melody Belle has come up as a $19 chance in all-in markets for the marquee event.

Beauty Generation headed for Living Legends

Wouldn’t you just love to own Beauty Generation? The two-time Hong Kong Horse of the Year winner has pulled up stumps on an astonishing career which saw him salute 18 times from 34 career starts, including eight Group 1 successes for trainer John Moore. The last three runs of his career came with legendary trainer David Hayes, and now the star gelding is set to call Living Legends his home from this point forward. Imagine having ownership in a horse who wins you HK $106,233,750… must be nice!

Inglis Premier set for massive 2021 sales

“The strongest premier catalogue we have ever released” is a pretty strong statement from Victorian Bloodstock manager Simon Vivian, but if he says that publicly, then he must be quite keen on it. So, for all those pennies you have been saving up during 2020 because your international holiday has been to your backyard, then perhaps one of the 804 lots that go under the hammer between February 28 to March 2, 2021 is where they should be going. Just don’t tell the missus!

Another day, another huge collect

Imagine being this much of a tin arse? A pair of $250 stakes for the same six-leg multi placed back on September 9. His final leg was settled this week as the Kansas City Chiefs moved their record to 12-1 after disposing of the Miami Dolphins on Monday morning AEDT. How easy would those Monday blues go away if you had just won $280k. Again, must be nice.
