The Group 3 Proud Miss Stakes has attracted nine fillies and mares, with last year’s winner, Humma Humma, back to defend her crown. The Patrick Payne-trained Rubisaki is the $2.50 favourite for the 1200m sprint on the back of a massive performance to run third in the Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes. In a race with plenty of runners who tend to settle off the speed, we expect the Luke Kavanagh-trained Wild Vixen to have a quiet time of it out in front. HorseBetting.com.au brings you the best bets, top odds and betting strategy for the Proud Miss Stakes, which is set to get underway at 1:11pm local time.

Proud Miss Stakes betting preview

Brooklyn Hustle is set to compete in Group 3 company for the first time since September 2020. The Jason Warren-trained mare was simply no match for the trifecta in the Robert Sangster Stakes, but she was certainly doing her best work late. Jamie Kah hops on board for the first time and will likely have her closer to the speed from barrier four. Brooklyn Hustle has a sharp turn of foot, and if she has clear galloping room from the 500m mark, she should break a run of outs that stretches back to August 2020.

Rubisaki could not have been any more impressive in the Robert Sangster Stakes when finishing 1.5 lengths off the winner, Instant Celebrity. It was arguably the mare’s best performance for 12 months, after putting in a couple of poor runs during the spring last year. The step back in class to Group 3 company will help her winning chances, but she does go up 1.5kg off her last-start third. It means she gives away 2.5kg to our top selection, and that could be the difference in the end.

As we mentioned, Wild Vixen will have a couple of lengths on some of her rivals, as she looks to be the only leader in the race. She was last seen finishing two lengths behind subsequent Group 1 winner Krone on Magic Millions Day on January 16. She comes to the Proud Miss Stakes first up from a four-month spell, and having not finished outside of the top three in four first-up runs, we expect her to be screwed down for this effort.
