Proisir’s Coeur Volante an impressive juvenile winner
There is more in store for Coeur Volante, who showed an impressive turn of foot to easily account for her rivals in the opening race at Sandown on Wednesday.
The Proisir filly, who is trained by Mike Moroney, settled towards the rear of the small field but was always travelling and put her rivals to bed to win the 1300m contest for two-year-old fillies by just shy of two lengths under the guidance of Billy Egan.
The result made amends for her debut run last month, where Coeur Volante finished a luckless fourth.
“It was a hard watch first start, definitely better today,” Moroney’s assistant Glen Thompson said.
“She’s got class written all over her and it will be interesting to see where she gets to. She’s definitely got better things in store.
“Her work since her run the other day has been outstanding, so it was no surprise to see what she’s done today.”
Egan said Coeur Volante will have no dramas continuing to be stepped up in trip.
“She gave me a really good feel. She stepped up to the 1300m no worries at all,” he said.
“The way she raced then, she’d be able to step out in trip no worries with maturity.”
Thompson said the initial plan was to tip the filly out for the spring, but that decision will be reassessed given the ease of her victory.
Sporting the colours of Rupert Legh, Coeur Volante was a $90,000 purchase for Paul Moroney Bloodstock / Ballymore Stables from the Prima Park draft at the 2022 New Zealand Bloodstock Book 1 Yearling Sale.
Bred by Fairdale Stud, the daughter of boom sire Proisir is the second foal of the talented Testa Rossa mare Shanina, whose first foal is the stakes-placed winner Hasstobemagic.
Later on the Sandown card Proisir’s Group Three placed daughter Passione was back in the winner’s circle for Nigel Blackiston.
Rich Hill Stud stallion Proisir has been represented by five individual Group One winners this season, including Legarto, Prowess, Levante, Pier and Dark Destroyer.
Proisir is represented by 10 weanlings in Friday’s New Zealand Bloodstock National Weanling & Broodmare Sale, while the winning Shocking mare Rosaleen Dubh is in foal to the champion sire elect.
