The Percy Sykes Stakes is a Group 2 race for two-year-old fillies, run over 1200m at Royal Randwick by the Australian Turf Club as part of The Championships.
First held in 1960 as the Keith Mackay Handicap, it was renamed in 2015 to honour renowned veterinarian Percy Sykes, a key figure in Sydney racing.
Originally a quality handicap, the Percy Sykes Stakes is now run under set weights and penalties. It held Listed status from 1979, became a Group 3 in 2014, and was elevated to Group 2 in 2017.
Since 1986, it has been run over 1200m and is now the richest fillies-only juvenile group race in Australia, offering $1,000,000 in 2025.
The 2024 Percy Sykes Stakes was won by Eneeza, defeating Lady Of Camelot and Erno’s Cube.

- Eneeza turned the tables on her Golden Slipper rival Lady Of Camelot with a sharp victory in the 2024 Group 2 Percy Sykes Stakes (1200m) at Randwick. The Peter Moody & Katherine Coleman-trained filly benefited from a 3.5kg weight swing and a perfect ride by Damian Lane, who settled her just behind the leaders from barrier six. After saving ground early, Lane switched back to the rail in the straight, where Eneeza unleashed a brilliant turn of foot to take over at the 200m. Lady Of Camelot, forced to work early from a wide draw, charged late but fell short, with Erno’s Cube and El Morzillo flashing home for third and fourth in a thrilling finish.
- Kristilli announced herself as a filly to follow with a brilliant win in the 2023 Group 2 Percy Sykes Stakes (1200m) at Randwick. Trained by Annabel Neasham, the daughter of Hellbent was having just her second start and exploded clear in the straight to win by 1.7 lengths. Despite racing greenly, Joao Moreira kept her balanced and found clear running at the top of the straight, where she unleashed a powerful sprint. Tiz Invincible chased hard to grab second, while Kimochi ran on strongly into third.
- Paris Dior dug deep to claim a narrow win in the $1 million 2022 Percy Sykes Stakes (1200m) at Randwick. Trained by Peter & Paul Snowden, the Pierro filly was a drifting $3.90 favourite but delivered under James McDonald, scoring by 0.15 lengths over the brave Willinga Beast. After jumping cleanly from barrier three, McDonald settled Paris Dior in the box seat behind the leaders. A gap appeared on the rail turning for home, and the filly surged through to hit the front, holding off Willinga Beast in a tight finish.
