In the featured event, the Group 3 Northam Stakes we are happy to side with the favourite Flirtini from the Simon Miller stable. William Pike sticks on board and is yet to finish outside of the top three when on the back of Artie Schiller mare. With two Group 3 victories to her name already we know she handles the grade and will be hard to hold out. From barrier five, we expect Pikey to settle her out the back and with a sharp turn of foot should be too good for this field.
The Martin Allan-trained Buckeye Bullet was sent around as a $2.00 favourite at Geraldton on April 8, but was ultimately swamped late on in the piece. He overrated in the one-one on that day, and having hit the front a long way out from home, he was always going to be vulnerable late. The son of Olympic Glory will look to use barrier two to his advantage, and with Chris Parnham he should find the one-one again on Sunday afternoon. With a well timed sprint Buckeye Bullet looks to be too good for this maiden field.
Jag The Joker has been knocking on the door for another win for some time now, and returned in solid enough form first up to suggest he is a winning chance here. The My Admiration mare tends to race up on speed, and from barrier two he shouldn’t be too far from the speed throughout. Chris Parnham hops on board for the first time, and should be ending his day with a riding double at Northam on Sunday.
