No fairytale at Ipswich as Sacred Oath crashes out

Sacred Oath news

The galloper part-owned by the late Shane Warne, Sacred Oath, has crashed through the running rail soon after the start at Ipswich on Wednesday.

There was plenty of attention on the maiden event, as many on-lookers were hoping the David Vandyke-trained runner could prove successful in the race after the recent passing of the cricketing great.

Sacred Oath, who was having just his second start, jumped as a $1.26 favourite with in the second event on the card, but hopes of a victory were soon dashed.

The short-priced favourite jumped well and was looking for a forward position when the eventual winner, Tesaura, came across the field causing interference to The Grey Panther, who was then forced onto Sacred Oath. The colt, who is also part-owned by former AFL footballer Campbell Brown, then made heavy contact with the running rail, throwing jockey Ryan Maloney out of the saddle.

Maloney mentioned blacking out when hitting the ground, but he looked to be cleared of any serious injury. The horse continued running after dislodging his jockey and looked to also escape serious injury.
