Obsolete can lead from gate seven and win this race from the front. The horse has placed second-up in the past and was decent in its resuming run, finishing second, but by a long margin. We think Obsolete can win a weaker maiden event.

John The Rodent has placed in two of its three career runs and will be the horse to beat here. Last time out it was three parts of a length off breaking the maiden and we think its time is now.

Shera Khan didn’t resume well on January 13, but it has second-up form and will be much fitter for the first-up run. The horse is rock bottom in the weights and looks poised to deliver a win at the sixth time of asking.

Enki is in great form and can deliver again on Thursday. The horse won brilliantly at Strathalbyn last time out by over four lengths and we believe it will deliver yet another win.

Nishiazabu will look to lead and we think it can win from the head of affairs in a race that doesn’t have a bunch of early speed. The horse is a well credentialed runner at this distance and in a smaller field it can surprise at odds.

Classy Jack will look to lead from gate five in a race with a bit of early speed. The horse drops back in grade on Thursday and has the ability to take this one out despite the poor last-start run.

Cronauer is a last-start winner that will need some luck from out wide, but if it gets across it will win. It all depends on the start, but the former Sha Tin runner can deliver here.

Dapper After Dark can win first-up at odds here. The horse has placed before when resuming and will not have too much trouble contending for the lead. We are backing an outsider getting up in the final event.
