Best Bet – Race 5 #1 Eltham Place $4.80

Keith Dryden saddles up Eltham Place in a Benchmark 58 over 1010m. The four-year-old mare has won three from 13, with all her wins coming on rain affected going, so she will enjoy the heavy track. She should improve second up and steps back drastically in class from a BM82 to 58 grade. Madi Waters’ 3kg claim gets the Poet’s Voice mare down to 59.5kg which will make the world of difference given she should be able to dictate terms from in front. She’ll return to the winner’s stall in this.

$100 Betting Strategy
$100 win: Eltham Place

Next Best – Race 4 #6 One Aye $3.15

Super One filly, One Aye broke her maiden at fourth-up in style at Wagga last start, winning the 1400m affair by just under 6L. She’s been around the money in all four starts, so she looks well placed to go on with the job here in Class 1 company. Stepping out onto a wet track for the first time is a big unknown, but her dam did win on a soft track, so she should show signs of being able to handle it. Drawn low in barrier 4 under Tom Sherry, she’ll bounce, land off the speed and finish strongly over the top of them.

Back One Aye @$3.15
$100 win: One Aye

Best Value – Race 6 #9 Rothenburg $9

Moruya Showcase analysis and best bets

Formerly trained by Matt Dunn, classy four-year-old Rothenburg lines up for his first start under Joe Cleary in the Moruya Showcase Town Plate. He was a back to back Highway winner in the winter, and then placed behind multiple Group 1 winning filly, Montefilia, so that form is certainly good enough to figure here. While his first-up form isn’t world breaking, he grows a leg in the wet and has the class to win this over 1200m. He’ll get back from barrier 11, but with ample speed in the race, he’ll be hitting the line strongly.

Rothenburg to win @ $9
$50 win: Rothenburg
