Hong Kong racing returns to Happy Valley on Wednesday evening, with a stacked nine-race program set to start at 6:40pm local time. The rail moves out to the B course, and with no rainfall forecast in the lead-up, participants should be racing on a Good 4 surface. Check out our best bets and quaddie numbers for the Happy Valley races on May 14.

Best Bet at Happy Valley: Galaxy Witness

Galaxy Witness hasn’t tasted success since May 2022 but gets the perfect opportunity to return to the winners’ enclosure. The son of Star Witness was heavily backed with horse racing bookmakers at this course and distance on April 30, and although he didn’t get the job done, he finished off nicely despite being crowded for room at a crucial stage. He’s undefeated in Class 4 company, and although he must lug 61kg under Hugh Bowman, Galaxy Witness should prove too classy for this lot.

Best Bet

Race 5 – Galaxy Witness Silks#1 Galaxy Witness (5)

6yo Gelding | T: Caspar Fownes | J: Hugh Bowman (61kg)

Next Best at Happy Valley: Helene Feeling

Helene Feeling has been a model of consistency this preparation, securing a win and four minor placings across his six starts. His latest effort at Sha Tin on April 20 was the anomaly, with the Sioux Nation gelding failing to sprint with them over the 1800m. He boasts a tremendous record at the Happy Valley 1650m (9:2-2-1), and with Harry Bentley set to gain an economical run in the small field of seven, expect Helene Feeling to bounce back at a good price with BlondeBet.

Best Value at Happy Valley: Looking Bright

Australian import Looking Bright appears to have settled in nicely at the Frankie Lor stable, with the lightly raced three-year-old catching the eye in a barrier trial at Sha Tin on May 2. The son of Zousain was sent straight to the front by Zac Purton and wasn’t asked for much, cruising through the wire behind Flowing Riches. This Class 3 contest appears to be a good kickoff point, and provided he’s left alone up on speed, expect Looking Bright to give a bold sight on his Hong Kong debut.
