Hong Kong racing heads back to Happy Valley Racecourse on Wednesday evening for a ultra-competitive nine-race program under lights. The rail is in the B position for the meeting, and with rain predicted for race day, we expect a major possibility of a yielding surface. The first race is scheduled to get underway at 6:45pm HKT (9:45pm AEDT).
Best Bet at Happy Valley: Savvy Delight
Savvy Delight will make his way to Happy Valley on the one-week backup after closing strong at this course and distance last Wednesday evening. The son of Exceed And Excel powered through the line for Hugh Bowman after jagging back from barrier nine. He closed off impressively but was simply no match for Happy Day who produced a career peak to score. We’re confident the form will stack up nicely in this Class 4 contest, and with a much more positive map from barrier four, Savvy Delight should prove hard to beat under Brenton Avdulla this time.

Next Best at Happy Valley: Romantic Laos
Romantic Laos was a dominant winner on seasonal return for new trainer Cody Mo on October 4, and we can’t see why the five-year-old gelding can’t make it back-to-back successes. He cleared out on his rivals to score by 1.3 lengths on that occasion, and Purton seemingly had a lapful of horse underneath him as he crossed the wire. He does cop a 3.5kg penalty in the weights for his trouble, but with a lovely run in transit from barrier two, Romantic Laos may just prove too classy again.

Next Best Again at Happy Valley: Wonder Kit
Wonder Kit was a shade disappointing first-up chasing home race rival O’liner at this course and distance on September 27. He got every chance to salute under Vincent Ho but just didn’t let down with his customary turn-of-foot. We’re willing to forgive the son of Sooboog and put it down to a lack of race-day fitness on return. He gets barrier one and Zac Purton this time, and with plenty of speed engaged in this event, we expect Wonder Kit to blouse his rivals in the penultimate race of the program.
