Hong Kong racing will take place under the lights of Happy Valley on Wednesday evening, with a competitive nine-race program set down for decision. The rail is in the C position for the meeting, and with sunny skies on the forecast leading in, we should be assured of Good 4 conditions. The opening race is scheduled for 6:45pm HKT (8:45pm AEST).
Best Bet: Superb Move
Superb Move makes his seasonal return and gets a fantastic opportunity to break his maiden. The Dennis Yip-trained gelding raced consistently towards the end of last season and finished the campaign with a three-length defeat of the handy D Star. That was in Class 4 company, and now the son of Bated Breath gets his chance first-up in Class 5. Superb Move will lead for a long way, and with just six rivals chasing him home, we expect a bold showing.

Baby Crystal has been a victim of horrible barriers and horrid luck in transit, with his latest effort at Sha Tin on July 7 no exception. He had rivals kick on his inside, leaving the five-year-old three wide throughout the 1200m contest. He draws a soft gate (2) to lead under Vincent Ho, and with a lovely tick-over trial heading to Happy Valley for the first time, he’ll be hard to beat as he looks for a second career win.

Next Best Again: Sweet Briar
Sweet Briar returns searching for his third-straight win. He was an impressive two-time winner at Sha Tin prior to the end of the season and was able hold off the latest challenge of Raging Blizzard on July 9. The top two cleared out on their rivals, clocking good time in the process. The form is strong, and after a promising trial at this course, Sweet Briar looks primed to return a winner in Class 3 company.
