| Where | Happy Valley Racecourse – Wong Nai Chung Rd, Happy Valley, Hong Kong |
| When | Wednesday, July 16, 2025 |
| First Race | 6:30pm HKT (8:30pm AEST) |
The Hong Kong racing season comes to an end with a massive nine-part program at Happy Valley this Wednesday night. The rail moves out to the B position, and with no significant rainfall forecast in the lead-up, participants should be racing on a genuine Good 4 surface. The opening event is scheduled to get underway at 6:30pm local time.
Best Bet at Happy Valley: Dancing Classics
It all went wrong for Dancing Classics in his latest outing at Sha Tin on June 8, with the son of Press Statement beaten by a convincing eight lengths. The Caspar Fownes-trained gelding was slow away and never looked to figure in the contest after copping a significant check in the early stages. He was a dominant debut winner prior to that luckless effort, and as he is set to strip fitter third-up, expect Dancing Classics to bounce back on his first look at Happy Valley.
Best Bet
Race 5 –
#1 Dancing Classics (10)
4yo Gelding | T: Caspar Fownes | J: Hugh Bowman (61kg)
Next Best at Happy Valley: Better And Better
The Frankie Lor-trained Better And Better has taken steady improvement with every start this preparation and appears set to peak in this Class 4 contest. The Shamus Award gelding didn’t have much luck last start at Sha Tin on June 28, hitting the line well despite being crowded for room at the 400m marker. Matthew Poon gets legged aboard for the first time, and with the pair set to travel in the one-one from gate two, there should be no excuses for Better And Better this time around.
Next Best
Race 3 –
#5 Better And Better (2)
3yo Gelding | T: Frankie Lor | J: Matthew Poon (57kg)
Best Value at Happy Valley: Fortunate Son
Fortunate Son was heavily backed with online bookmakers at Sha Tin on July 1 and must be considered disappointing after failing to fire a shot. He never travelled when urged along, with the son of U S Navy Flag unable to stay in touch with the leading pack as the sprint went on. He seems to prefer Happy Valley, and with the four-year-old set to relish the step up to 1800m, expect Fortunate Son to be a big improver.
Best Value
Race 4 –
#2 Fortunate Son (2)
4yo Gelding | T: Cody Mo | J: Derek Leung (61kg)
