Goulburn Racing Club will host a competitive seven-race program this Monday afternoon. The track is currently rated a Soft 5, and with more rain forecast for the Goulburn area over Sunday and Monday, we expect to see a Soft rating on race day. The rail will be in the true position for the entire circuit, while racing gets underway at 1:50pm AEDT.
Best Bet at Goulburn: Estilete
Our best bet of the day at Goulburn will be in the Class 1 Handicap, where Estilete from the Annabel Neasham yard will be first-up returning from a three-month break. This three-year-old filly has had two trials before coming to the races on Monday, finishing third and second over 812m and 795m at Warwick Farm both times. The second of the trials was the more impressive one and it shows that this daughter of Written Tycoon has come back into work in great form. This lightly raced filly has only missed the placings once, when she was on debut, before she went on to win at this track over 1300m at her second start. Alysha Collett will take the ride on this girl once again, continuing her strong affiliation with this filly after riding her at her last two starts before going out for a break. From barrier two Collett should have this filly on-speed and she will look to kick clear on the home bend, putting the race to bed early in the home straight.

Next Best at Goulburn: Iconic Dame
In the very next race, we will be siding with the Jamie Stewart-trained Iconic Dame when she comes back to country grade after racing in town in the Highway Handicaps at Rosehill Gardens and Randwick at her first two starts this preparation. This four-year-old mare has been racing over 1100m and 1200m at her last two starts, making ground and running home strong in both, indicating to us that she looks ready to step up to 1300m on Monday. From barrier 10, Tyler Schiller should take his medicine and drop back to the rear of the field and as long as there a solid tempo set by the leaders, this girl will be lengthening down the outside to stake her claim in the concluding stages.

In the second race of the day, we will be siding with the Wayne Hudd-trained Sweet Biscuit who will be returning from a six-month spell, with the benefit of one trial at Randwick over 740m on January 9. This lightly raced five-year-old mare has compiled a nice career record, with two wins and four placings in seven career starts, with the wins being the back-to-back victories that she recorded at the end of her last campaign at Moruya and Narromine. On Monday, the 1000m may be a little short of her best distance range, but considering she jumped nicely and travelled very kindly on the bit in her trial, it looks to us that she has returned well. Tyler Schiller rode this mare in her trial and if he can get her to jump fast and push forward, she could prove too speedy for them at a very nice price with online bookmakers.
