Race 1 – Benchmark 73 (1250m)

In a small field, Wooshka presents as the best winning hope in the race. The Written Tycoon filly broke its maiden at the second time of asking in great fashion and we think the Peter and Paul Snowdon three-year-old has a decent future ahead of it.

Race 1 tip: Wooshka to win at Sportsbet

Race 2 – Maiden Plate (1100m)

Fifth Affair should be taking this event out. The horse is second-up after a great return which saw it only narrowly lose to Ballet Rose on December 17. From barrier three it has the perfect opportunity to dictate its own luck and we believe it will be taking this race out.

Race 2 tip: Casino Star to win at Neds

Race 3 – Maiden (1100m)

Misteed is debuting on Friday but after taking out both its trials in the lead up to this race we think a great showing should be in the offing.

The Exceed And Excel filly gets gate five and will be well placed in the running to make a winning debut.

Race 3 tip: Misteed to win at Ladbrokes

Race 4 – Benchmark 74 (1550m)

Dawn Raid drops slightly in class after a disappointing benchmark 77 race at Randwick, but after recording a hat-trick prior to that poor showing we think it can bounce straight back into winning ways. From the outside barrier the horse can drop back in the field before unleashing over the top of them late.

Race 4 tip: Dawn Raid win at Sportsbet

Race 5 – Benchmark 74 (1100m)

Star Crossed is second-up on Friday where it has won previously in the past. The horse also returns to the sprint trip where it is undefeated across two runs. Star Crossed resumed in good fashion last time out at Muswellbrook when it finished third and we’re expecting the horse to strip fitter following that run.

Race 5 tip: Star Crossed to win at Sportsbet

Race 6 – Benchmark 76 (1100m)

Miss Liffey is seeking a hat-trick on its Canterbury debut. After recording back-to-back wins at Wagga the horse takes a trip to the city, where we think it should excel. From barrier two the horse should be able to lob in a nice position and finish off late in the piece.

Race 6 tip: Miss Liffey to win at Crownbet

Race 7 – Benchmark 80 (1250m)

Satirical Magic is going for three-in-a-row and we think it’s more than capable of delivering. Both of those races came at Canterbury and were at benchmark 74 then 76 level. This represents another rise in class but recent races suggest the step-up is well within Satirical Magic’s wheelhouse.

Race 7 tip: Satirical Magic to win at Neds

Race 8 – Benchmark 73 (1900m)

Lord Macau placed last time out at this level, and in a race without much speed it should be able to work its way across from barrier 12 easily and lead. We think the son of Casino Prince can pinch this one from the front if the race goes according to plan.

Race 8 tip: Lord Macau to win at Neds
