DOOMBEN hosts a nine event card this Wednesday as the premiere venue in the sunshine state boasts the most races of any track midweek in Australia.

The meet is littered with benchmark events so we are anticipating an entertaining day of racing in Queensland.

Race 1 – Maiden Handicap (1200m)

Fatz has the unusual record of finishing either seventh or second in all of its five races to date. Last time out the horse raced three wide and still managed to round out the quinella so we are expecting a stronger effort second-up.

Always difficult to say in a maiden event but Reacher should be taking this out. The speedy beginner should steamroll to the front from barrier 13 and will take plenty of catching.

Zukaz is a consistent type that has an experience advantage on the runners here. In the last five races the horse has won twice and finished no worse than fifth. The horse has been nominated for the Magic Millions, and if its any hope of making an impact there it would want to perform here.

Race 4 – Class 1 Handicap (1660m)

Brickhall broke its maiden in brilliant fashion as a $2 favourite via Ladbrokes last time out. The horse had no luck but still managed to win, so it makes sense that any luck in the run will see it comfortably take this race out.

Race 5 – Benchmark 74 (1200m)

The ultra-consistent Make A Ruler gets its chance to continue the stellar form. Since returning on October 1 the horse has won twice and placed every other run across four races. Make A Ruler is towards the bottom of the weights again and will be a major player.

Race 6 – Benchmark 70 (1200m)

Plan Red is third-up on Wednesday, where it has placed in the past. In its last race Plan Red beat our next best bet Make A Ruler, which stands to reason that we expect a strong performance from the son of Show A Heart.

Race 7 – Class 4 Handicap (1660m)

Elsaray looks well suited to win again here. The horse missed out by a length and a half from making it three-straight wins, and from barrier three with not much weight to carry the four-year-old mare will be right in the mix here under these conditions.

Fell From Heaven races today after narrowly going down at Murwillumbah on December 8, and as a third-up runner the confidence will be high given it has won twice at this point prior. The horse could start at a huge price but we have no doubt it is more than capable of taking this one out.

Wolf Tales was a stylish winner last time out and we think it can go on with the job in the final event. The strength of the win was enough to suggest to us that the horse can be a definite improver.
