Ethan Brown suffers severe injuries in Australian Guineas fall

Ethan Brown is in hospital following a shocking fall in the Group 1 Australian Guineas.

One of Victoria’s leading jockeys, Ethan Brown, underwent surgery on Saturday night after falling in Saturday’s Group 1 Australian Guineas at Flemington.

Brown fell when aboard tiring leader Maximillius at the 300-metre mark in the $1 million Group 1 when in an incident involving Holymanz, Elliptical, and Amenable close to the running rail.

The Ciaron Maher and David Eustace-trained Holymanz also fell, with Melbourne Cup-winning hoop Mark Zahra also being dislodged from his mount.

Zahra avoided injury and was able to fulfil his mount aboard Gentleman Roy in the Group 2 Blamey Stakes.

23-year-old Brown, was transported to Royal Melbourne Hospital following the fall with the fear that the three-time Group 1 winning jockey had suffered severe internal injuries.

Racing Victoria released an update on Brown’s condition on Saturday night.

Both Maximillius and Holymanz trotted off the course after the Guineas, with both runners showing no abnormalities when inspected by Racing Victoria vets.
