Emirates Stakes day free tips, form and odds, November 11
THE Melbourne Cup carnival comes to an end this Saturday, but punters get a great betting card to invest on.
The Group 1 Emirates Stakes and Group 1 Darley Classic are two of the biggest races of the year in Melbourne and we have free tips, form and odds for both feature races this Saturday at Flemington.

Race 1 – Maribyrnong Plate (1000m)
Bionics has had the benefit of race day experience and its placing in the Inglis 2YO has been franked. The son of Hinchinbrook finished a close second behind Setsuna, which won on Cup day and that bodes well for the two-year-old here.
King is a recent trial winner which is bred to be quick. The son of Written Tycoon and getting the inside draw should be a positive at Flemington on debut. Kerrin McEvoy rides and it should be well backed in early markets.

Race 2 – Juvenile Diabetes Research Plate (2000m)

Have Plenty is an eight-time winner which was no match for Lord Fandango in the Benella Cup, but its two runs since have been solid. It has finished a nose behind two nice types in Morphettville and although this is no easier, it deserves to be considered.
Knowable will get a win soon and it will be deserved. The Steve Richards-trained runner has been awfully close this season and he was only nailed late on Bendigo Cup day. It has won at Flemington in the past and this might be its best chance at 54kg.

Race 3 – Melbourne’s Own 3AW Trophy (1600m)
Coldstone is knocking on the door of a win after two solid efforts this time in. The Michael Kent-trained import finished fourth in the Weekend Hussler Stakes and he wasn’t far away in the Sale Cup. This is no easier, but he’s a chance if everything goes his way.
Raw Impulse turned around some poor form to run third in the Sale Cup and it might improve now. The Darren Weir-trained six-year-old showed plenty of talent when it first came to Australia, but that has tapered off a touch since. It could reward loyal punters.

Race 4 – Sensis Digital Trophy (1400m)
Supply And Demand is a model of consistency for the Waterhouse/Bott team and it looks a good chance here again. The son of Sebring has had 18 starts for seven wins and seven placings. That included a win in the Caloundra Cup in June and it has since returned to run a nice placing at Randwick. Flemington should suit and it only needs to carry the weight.
Lord Aspen is a winner of nine from 22 starts and that includes two victories at Flemington. Mick Huxtable lines up the six-year-old which is coming off a gutsy win at Morphettville and it loves this distance. There’s not much form in this race and it could capitalise.

Race 5 – Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2600m)

Qewy was a gallant winner of the Bendigo Cup and it will need all of that class to win again here at the 59kg. Charlie Appleby has had great success in Australia to date and after running fourth in the 2016 Melbourne Cup on this track, Qewy looks set to finish in a better position this time around.
Kiwia had its chance to beat Qewy last start, but Flemington is a track which could suit the swooper. The Weir-trained stayer looked a touch lost around the smaller bend at Bendigo and the long straight will give it ample time to warm up. They could run the quinella again.

Race 6 – Matriarch Stakes (2000m)
Falika is in hot form this spring and another win could be on the cards. The five-year-old has rattled off three consecutive wins and it all started when she won here in September. Damien Oliver misses the ride here, but McEvoy takes over the riding duties and he’s more than capable.
Savapinski ran well around Moonee Valley last start and although that form hasn’t stacked up, it should have taken good benefit from the run. The four-year-old mare looked good in Sydney before coming to Melbourne and given the light weight of 55kg, it could run into a place-bearing position.

Race 7 – Darley Classic (1200m)

Punters haven’t seen the best of Chautauqua this season, but returning back to Flemington should work a treat. The Hawkes-trained sprinter was controversially late scratched from the Manikato Stakes, but he has yet to finish outside of the placings in eight starts on this track and punters should get a nice price for the quality runner.
Redzel is the boom sprinter this season after winning The Everest and it has winning experience at Flemington. The Snowden-trained son of Snitzel has won five straight races and 10 from 20 overall. It has been underrated its entire career, but we’re expecting bookmakers to have him right in the mix and he should be starting the favourite.

Race 8 – Emirates Stakes (2000m)

We’re not going to give up on Tom Melbourne and he’s copping some unfair criticism. A horse that has finished second in the Epsom Handicap and Cantala Stakes in the same season would otherwise be called an iron horse, but poor Tom Melbourne cops harsh backlash from punters. He’s a great each way betting prospect and smart punters continue to make money off the Waller-trained runner.
Folkswood is another smart runner for Charlie Appleby, which won the Cranbourne Cup before running third in the Cox Plate. It finished some five lengths behind Winx and Humidor, but it still defeated the rest of the field and running at Flemington will suit. It needs luck from the draw, but it should matter too much over this distance.

Race 9 – Emirates Airline Handicap (1400m)
Faolan looks to have a nice career in store after winning on debut at Kilmore. The Sona Thoroughbreds-raced gelding is a well-bred son of Sebring, which should get better with age and it didn’t fully handle the soft track on debut. It has been thrown in the deep end here, but respect its chances down in the weights.
Sircconi is almost impossible to follow with any confidence, but this is much easier than the Caulfield Guineas. The Peter Morgan-trained runner led the field, but was easily hauled in by the likes of Mighty Boss. Its form prior included a win over Wyndspelle and that form looks tops for this.
